Thanks for the info, not sure if everyone realized I was asking about standing mile top speed, from a stop you run 1 mile, the speed I was interested in is the speed the car is at at the end of the mile.

After reading over the thread, it seems people are saying it is between 150 and 160

Default 155mph top speed? um..no.

I call major on 155mph area as top speed for these cars. My old 1987 C4 with a stock 240hp motor did 155mph in Motor Trend's top speed test issue. God knows I danced in the area of that number enough times before I started all the mods on the car to confirm it.

I find it incredibly hard to believe with 165 more horsepower and better aerodynamics than a C4, that a Z06 can only match the top speed of the older car. No matter how bad the gearing might be for top speed runs. It might not be the best gearing but its not that bad. I would have to dig through my old magazine tests but I recall them saying it was around 170mph which sounds a lot more feasable.

Considering that is still nearly 25-30mph slower than the C6Z (factory rated and backed up by owners at around 198mph) with only 100hp more and aero only .02 or so better I wouldn't hesitate to say even 170mph might be conservative by a few mph.

You're talking about top speed instead of a mile, right?

We're speaking C5Z speed at the mile.
The 2009 ZR1 runs the mile at 180mph. You can gauge your logic from that.

Default Top speed.

Yes, I was referring to top speed and not standing mile speed. Sorry if I was not clear about that.

A stock C5Z is gear limited to it's top speed of 170, not power limited.

My 5th gear is .74 compared to a Z .84, then I have taller tires with the 345/30/19s plus any expansion, and last I have a 6800rpm redline. Add it all up you can get to about 220mph in 5th.

My calculations come to a different top speed than the 220 mph that you stated:

1) Your 0.74:1 Fifth gear gives you 13.5% more speed than a 0.84:1 Fifth gear.

2) Your 345/30ZR19 tires are 3.5 percent taller than the stock 295/35ZR18 tires that come stock on a C5 Z06.

3) Your 6,800 rpm redline is 3.0% more than the 6,600 rpm redline on the stock LS6.

Those factors together 173 mph x 1.135 x 1.035 x 1.03 = 209 mph.

Oh yes, with my 0.563:1 Sixth gear, a 4.10:1 final drive ratio, and a 400 RWHP modifed LS6 engine, I have been at 192 mph.

(GPS verified).

According to the Calculator you should hit 181.8mph at 6700 in 5th minus any wheel expansion.

According to the Calculator I get the following
Gear Ratio MPH
5 .74 217

However I have only just crossed 200mph one time.
