About the difference between car owner and car enthusiast. Wavers have a passion for their cars. Owners just drive
I smiled ear to ear when I read your post. I once wrote an article titled: "Are You a Vette Owner or A Vette Enthusiast"? I did a lot of research and most of it was based on facts. It was pretty good if I say so myself. I have used that phrase at our club meetings several times. I could talk on that subject for hours, some based on fact, however most based on personal opinion which doesn't carry much weight with some folks.
I find that almost all C5 owners wave except for the women. I have yet received a wave back in the 2 years I have had mine. Most of the C6 owners wave, but only a minor percent of C3 or C4 owners wave.
I still wave though and make the same mistake some of you others do by waving while driving my other cars.
I tend to get confused...I always wave in my C3, but my daily driver is a Jeep Wrangler, and Wrangler owners wave as well...so I've often found myself waving at the wrong vehicle when driving.
And I'm in the C5 section cuz tomorrow we'll be a 2 Vette family...bringing home a 2001 for the wife...and I'll make sure she waves!
The sunny spring days(the few we've had) have brought out the waves for now,,about 90%!! An echo to the statement,,traffic conditions Do have an affect on seeing a waver!!:chee rs:
i also believe it has to do with the difference between car owners and car enthusiast. i also find more return waves when driving my C3 than with the C5. it could have something to do with the fact that the C3 attracts a certain amount of additional attention than does the C5. if you live in an area where corvettes in general are a bit scarce, i would think the incidence of return waves would be higher. in areas were there a lots of vettes (i would bet that at least over 50% are just car owners at that point), return waves decrease. that's just my take on it however.
