Have had an electrical problem with my 2001 z06 for a number of years. The car lost power when driving for a split second and mainly did this when on rough road. Have brought to dealer a number of times to fix but could never duplicate or find a code error. Also after reading the posts with connector corrosion i even looked closer at the grounding connectors Today when cleaning on the engine compartment I had a spark and disconnected the battery and found the problem. In the picture notice the red battery wire with the slice from the frame bracket.
Cannot name the number of problems Ive had in the last 2 years from this GM mistake. But shouldnt have been hard to find. The car only has 12k miles but has been to the service center 4 times for this minor issue. Fixed it up with .05cents of rubber hose and tape.

Hi There:
Nice accidental find. That cable lock unlocks with the twist of a screw driver. Probably too hard to reach. Glad you found it. I'll be checking my 01.

thanks, didnt have to unlock the plastic holder was able to slide some rubberhose on both the wire and the frame with a little glue and shouldnt be no more trouble.
Feel very happy to solve this problem, after actually seeing it, it sticks out like a sore thumb.
When driving with my headlights at night the lights would dim due to lose of power.....dont do that no more.
Driving on the interstate and all the gauges would start flashing and the needles went to zero as if the car was shut down and turned back on. The LCD would flash MADE BY CHEVROLET. But the engine never shut down......Dont do that no more.
If that is the main power lead from the battery it is a great find. It is also a great fire hazard. You might have lost the car to fire if it fully shorted directly to the battery. Well done!
