I'm thinking about trading my 6.1 Liter 06 Charger SRT-8 for a 2001 5.7 Liter convertible Corvette. Both have 40,000 miles on them but the dealership will sell me the vette for 19,800. I love the look of the vette and it's potential. I wish I had the money to buy a faster model but I don't so I was thinking about modding the vette. I have to be honest, the thought of trading the Charger huts cuz I love it and the engine kicks ***. Interested to see if Corvette owners think this is the right move.

Nothing like owning a Vette and the LS block is easy to make HP and go fast

You will not regret it

It's lighter and it will kick the Cgarger butt all day long just a few mods and this thing will be at 400 RWHP in no time

Thanks,Matt

It all comes down to your personal preference though, I honestly can't see what there would be to regret. The Vette is ultra sexy and a great platform for making crazy HP.

I agree the platform is easily modded and a lot lighter. The Charger is over 4,000 pounds so the Corvett'e power to weight ratio wins hands down. The Car looks amazing. Thanks for making me feel more comfortable. What should be the first easy upgrades for a 01 C5 5.7L? Thanks

Just drive a Vette and you will answer your own question. Sure the charger is nice, But the Vette is fantastic, You can't compare the two.

I suspect the advice you'll get here might be a tad biased

The Vette is just a whole different experience over any other run of the mill car

Post it on the Charger forum and i bet you that everyone would be telling you to keep the SRT. If you love the Charger that much then maybe you should keep it.

always LOVED the SRT8 chargers but i have also always thought they looked like huge tanks. Not my thing really. Take the Vette out and see if you like it. Good starting mods for a Vette would be a Vararam intake, LS6 manifold, Longtubes and exhaust and a tune. What are they offering you for trade for the Charger if you don't mind me asking? it's all up to what you want/need. If you need a back seat then keep the SRT. If you don't and like a car that handles, looks sexy and very likely cheaper to mod, since that seems to be a thing you want to do, then the Vette is your choice. I'm not 100% sure on SRT parts but i've heard they are tough to tune and i'm sure they have their own extra tax like the Vette tax. Best thing to do is drive it and see if it's what you want. if not keep what ya got

It may boil down to your own taste.....

Muscle car.....or Sports car? What do you like?

How many times have you used the back seat? If it comes in handy, and the car is just "Oh 2 Fun" don't trade.

But, if you want something to move your butt faster......and increase the G-forces of EVERY corner.....and you only need one "friend" along...make the trade fo sho!!!

The C5 Corvette is beautiful, exciting, practical (28+mpg), reliable, and the best SPM (smiles per mile) that one can get for the money.

$ .02

So, it's up to you.

But also.....what are the options on this 'Vette?

5-0,

I sure hope 5-0 doesn't mean 5.0 Mustang!!

1. Welcome to THE Forum. Funny, I never heard of the Charger Forum. (Altho I am sure there is one and now I have offended them.)

2. Are you kidding me? Of course you should do this, unless you need a back seat for youngsters.

3. 01-04 Vert? Excellent choice. I love my 01 TR Z51 Vert. These are great cars. You will never look back, except to see the Mustangs in your rearview mirror.

4. If you live in the MidAtlantic area, seek out the Boyz @ East Coast Supercharging. To start with, they will fix you up w a Vararam, 160 stat, and hi performance tune.

Let us know how it goes, Rickman

The only downside to owning a Vette is that you can only have 1 other person in the car with you and perhaps a small to medium sized dog in the back if you've got a coupe. Sometimes it's nice because you don't have to buss people around, other times it sucks because you have to ride in someone's minivan if the group is going somewhere.

This is like asking air travel vs. cruise line on the Carnival Cruise Line site.

I think the Vette will win here. Now, go ask the same thing on the Charger forum.

Oh, there's not. Nevermind. Just buy the Vette and post some photos ASAP.

The vette hands down. Why did they even make the charger a 4 door car?

If I had a charger where I live, no heads would turn. Unless it was completely customized. But I have a c5 with some nice chrome wheels and tinted windows.

People break their neck.
