I have the same dilemma, I like the clear ones but the ribbed ones are quit a bit cheaper on ebay than the clear ones on ebay, go figure!

You're debating over smooth versus ribbed. Mine are smooth, totally clear, 48 LED swithbacks, and silver coated 194 sides. You can't see the bulbs at all, and they are BRIGHT when you turn the lights on.

Just my opinion, but I've never liked the all white lens look on any vehicle, a little color is nice.

I've got rib ones but also like the clears. Hope that helps.

The ribbed ones look pretty good, but you can't go wrong with either really...

I was having a tough time trying to decide between the two. That was a couple of years ago. Problem was I never actually saw them on a vette in person. So, finally just bit the bullet and picked the clear. When they arrived they looked great and was happy with them. Called the chevy dealer to see what it would cost to have them installed. They said, $250. I said thank you very much and decided to give the install a try myself. The first one was a little trial and error, but not difficult to install. First one took a little time, the second one was a snap and had it installed in half the time. They look much better than the stock lights. My car is low so can't see the bulb unless you are on your hands and knees. I tried the silver bulbs but they where half as bright as the stock bulbs. So went back to stock. I had also heard rumors of the silver bulbs bursting. Ribbed or clear it's your call, they both look great.

My understanding is that the clear do a better job with light dispersion when running LED switchbacks than the ribbed. That's why I went with the clear when I made my decision.

In terms of the all clear lenses that are becoming scarce, it's because they are not DOT compliant.

What ever you decide to do, do it because it's what you like. But, do get the leds so your new purchase won't get the burn through on top again.
