Default Tendered or not?

I just replaced the battery with a duralast gold from autozone.
I use the car about 1 per week on the weekends.

My question is, should I keep it connected to a battery tender?

If you are truly using it once a week there should be no need to...I don't with m,y '01 but I do find sometimes that I get busy and then it's two weeks before I get to drive it...It won't hurt to use the Battery Tender and the battery will thank you...

I try to use it once per week. Plus it is new (to me) and I have been playing around with the car getting to know it. So I open the doors, check the settings, etc. Like a kid on Christmas morning!

I always kept mine hooked to a battery tender. Never had any problems.

I would suggest a CTEK - it is a combination tender/charger. I used to use a tender, but I found that if I did not put it on for a while, then decided I needed it, it would not bring the battery up to full charge, it would just maintain it at its diminished charge. These cars are very sensitive to low voltage, and that would usually mean I would see Pull Key Wait 10 secs messages. Since I switched to the CTEK, no more messages. Talk to Chip at CCA - he can set you up with a CTEK.

Hmm, i've never used any type of battery tender on my vehicles, and i sometimes don't drive them for 2-3 weeks. What's the deal with these things? I've never had battery trouble... What's the benefit of them, other than keeping batteries charges for extended storage(months at a time)?

I use my C-Tek through the winter months but usually leave it off during the summer, the Vert is ok with 2 or even 3 weeks of not driving it..

C5's are very electronics intensive, and will slowly drain the battery if the car sits more then a couple of weeks. The CTEK Multi3300, which I use, is a float charger. You can leave it on whenever you're not using the car, and it will maintain the battery at peak charge. It will never overcharge, even if left on indefinitely. A very worthwhile accessory for your Vette. Give Chip at CCA a call. He'll hook you up!

I use my car about the same amount as you do and I've never used a tender and have never had a problem.

That is good to know. Thanks jrose7004.

I already have a battery tender jr. for my Harley Davidson. The winter months it doesnt even get turned on! So it has dual purposes now, Harley in the winter, Corvette in the summer/winter

If I'm not going to use my car for 10 days to two weeks, I put the battery butler on it. But If your using it once a week the alternator can handle that.

I use a battery tender myself, past 2 years with no problems.

I drive the car about 2 times a week.

You don't need a battery tender.

I have the same battery and have not had any problems with it. My car set several weeks this winter and was fine.

It certainly can't hurt it to connect it while you are not using the car... I only connect mine to the tender if it is going to sit more than 3 weeks. I've actlually let it sit 4 weeks once and it started right up(summer time of course). I have the Excide Orbtial battery.

I use a Priority Start. It just kills the battery whenever it gets too low. The only pain is that I have to reset the clock if it disconnects the battery.
