Default Michelin PS A/S ZPs the way to go

See my response to another post about tires today. Bought Michelin PS A/S ZPs 2 years ago for my vert and NEVER LOOKED BACK. Surprisingly DTD was cheaper than TR as they included free UPS shipping. Road hazard is INCLUDED in the price from MICHELIN.
The Stealership ROAD FORCE MOUTED AND BALANCED them for $100 while installers from DTD and TR wanted more for run flats, tps and you name it.BIGHANK

I realize the desire and need for runflats, but I have to say in 30 years of driving (8 years on the road), I have only had one flat. Granted it can happen at the worst of times, so I get everyone's point.

Plus as a woman or a man, AAA is a worthwhile investment

I had the Michelins...worst tires I have had in years, high price, and they made the suspension feel like something was wrong. I have 60K miles in a C5 and never needed run-flat tires,....Get AAA and a set of B-F Goodrich KDW-2 NT tires...they have good wear, drain super well in the rain, stick in the dry almost like the near-slicks, and give really good chassis feel...You'll save 5 or 6 hundred compared to the Michelins, so you afford to get a few other mods with the savings, like new Bilstein Sport shocks....

Then again, I'm a crazy lady, .....WHO NEED RUNCRAPS ANYWAY!!!!!! not me!

I've got a 98 sebring silver vert and the Michelin PS A/S ZPs were like day and night on my car. Much less road noise, Better handling, no bumpsteer. Is there something funny with your suspension? Or are the roads out there different than in Maryland?BIGHANK

In most cases regardless of how a tire performs there are going to people that hate run flat tires. There is no amount of proof that would convince them otherwise.

Just like fifty percent of the people hate Michelin because they think the tires are made outside the US, no matter how many US Michelin factories you could show them.

The GY's look better, but I'm very satisfied with my Michelin A/S ZPs. Much quieter, handles great.

Any experience out there with the tire that Discount Tire reccomended? They are quoting around 13 something for 4. I do not race nor run my car hard.

Any advice is appreciated!

Judy, tires alone are $960. What else are they doing for$300+? Plus, there's a $70 rebate when you buy four.

I have been running Michelin Pilot Sport Zero Pressure tires on my (99 6Spd Convt.) since around 2003 and have not had any trouble. The Michelins seem quieter, handles better that the GY and I found them to get much better mileage than the Good Years (went through at least 3 sets before I changed over, due to wear out cycling on GYs).

I also changed my wife’s car (04 Auto Coupe) over to the Michelin Pilot Sport Zero Pressure tires when the first replacement set of tires were required after the GY OEM tires crapped out (was usually around 11 to 12K).

I have bought the tires from Discount Tire, Kauffman, and Big 10 Tires depending on who has the best price at my time of need. While I know many people do not care or down right hate Run flats, I really do not care since it is my car. I feel comfortable knowing that in the event of a flat tire; my wife can get to a Discount/Kauffman/Big 10 Tires store for tire repair or replacement. I do not expect her to get out there and try to fix a tire coming from work and I would rather not have AAA trying to handle a flat tire on her’s or my car.

In the end, you (the car owner) make the decision to put the tires on your car (each of you) that you like, as I did. The feel, ride, longevity and price of the Michelin Pilot Sport Zero Pressure tires compared to the Good Year Run flats for me is what made me change over. I did wish to continue to pay the higher price for the GY while not getting any miles of them. As our cars are daily drivers and the roads in ATL can sometimes be challenging, Michelin Pilot Sport Zero Pressure tires at the moment have been the best for us.

I have been looking at the Kuhmo Ecsta MX XRP Run flats as replacements on my car as she does not leave ATL that much anymore. It depends on reviews I can find on the Kuhmo whether I will change over to these tires.

Good luck on whatever you decide as the replacement for your tires.

Judy - I just put those tires on my 2000 back the end of April and I LOVE them! Drove from OH down to FL and back 1st of May and going back again this weekend.

The handling is awesome. Much smoother ride. They are quieter on asphalt and a bit louder on concrete. That being said, no major issue on noise.

Good luck!

I bought some Michelins Pliots A/S ZP's for the rears from NTB. They wanted $311.00 a piece, but I did some checking, and Tire Rack wanted $255.00, and NTB matched the price. The ZP also come with a 45,000 mile warranty on them. I haven't found any other tire for the vette that comes with a warranty on them. They are quiet, and so far really do like them. I bought the lifetime balance from NTB, and they cost about $280.00 a piece for them.
