I am needing new tires on my 2004 Automatic stock Coupe. Discount tires suggested Michelin Pilot A/S Plus. I am calling around price shopping runflats---have a call into Goodyear and have not heard back from them yet. I called Sams and they do not do runflats. Any experience out there with the tire that Discount Tire reccomended? They are quoting around 13 something for 4. I do not race nor run my car hard.

Judy - the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S is a good choice, you'll find it much quieter and softer riding than the OEM GY run flats. The new PS2 ZP (same tire as what is standard on the C6 ZR1) is another viable option. This tire is available in the standard C5 fitment.
The difference is the sidewall construction. The Michelin is not rated to be driven up to 200 miles with no air like the GY. And - some claim that the OEM GY with it's very square shoulders is wider than a different brand tire of the same size.
If you still want runflat tires look at Firestone Wide Ovals they are much more affordable and a better tire than runcraps and my buddy runs them on his C6 and they are quieter and better traction than the GY, just another option over the more expensive Michelin's

I want runflats again...replaced the original runflats in 2007 with non runflat Falkens but was always very nervous if I got a flat that I would need to be towed in. As a woman, don't need that hassle.
I put the Michelin Pilot Sports 2 years and 20,000 miles ago, and they have been great. Definitely quieter than the GY tires. The traction is good in the rain, and I've even had the unfortunate pleasure of having to drive them in some snow last winter. And, since my car is my daily driver, having the security of the runflats is important to me, too. When the time come to replace my tires, I'll buy the Michelins again, and I'll buy them from Discount Tire.
Kuhmo Ecsta MX runflats go for 760$ for 4 at tirerack. I run the same but in a non run flat and like them very much. I know you'd have to get install as well but this might be one to also consider.
I ran the first generation of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZPs which were great, and 6 months ago replaced them with the second generation Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus ZPs.
This is an excellent tire, you will not regret that purchase. Extremely excellent handling tires in all kinds of weather condition, as mentioned quieter then the OEM GYs. Plus they have a 500 wear rating which should give the a 45000 mile life.
Discount Tire has given you an excellent recommendation. I use them myself and for my daughter's car, and recommend them with confidence.

Bought the Pilot A/S runflats for the rear of my C5 last July at local Discount Tire shop. Then ran a 1400 mile trip to Carlisle and back. Much quieter than the OE GY tires. Rears were $707 complete incl 7% GA tax.
Very pleased and the pricing was reasonable.
Discounttiredirect.com had the Michelin Sport A/S Plus ZP (run flat) for $900 shipped not long ago, I'd check there. Got them installed at a local Discount tire shop, all told was about $1100 including having the grommets rebuilt. These tires are much nicer than the GYs.
I've got a set of Kuhmo MX's I put on for road trips and a set of General UHP's for the rest of the time...I've had the Kuhmo run flats for 2 years, they've been great....I don't think you will find a lower priced run flat. I used Tirerack......
