The old marketing axiom states that if you make 1000 customers happy, one or two will tell their friends. If you make one customer mad, he will attempt to tell everyone he has contact with. Ecklers better learn from this thread.
....You want to be treated with courtesy and respect - period. As the customer - it's your right to be treated that way or go elsewhere where you will be treated that way.
....I was absolutely not making excuses for Ecklers poor handling of the situation....plain and simple - it was wrong.
I totally agree, but when the vendor is doing everything they can and has conveyed this, kept in tough, explained the situation, it doesn't give the customer the right to treat you with disrespect either. It goes both ways....
Sory Turbo about your experience with the car cover... You should try to work on 10 customer cars at once.. I have had a few mishaps with ecklers, but they were handled in a timely manner and i couldnt ask for better service from RAY(deceased) god rest his corvette soul and from Nancy as they both have give great service to me and my customers for over 20 years... Im sure you had an incident, but life is too short to sweat the small stuff... Vendors dont make everything, but they buy alot so you cn save a few bucks more!!!! You could alays loan the vette out for some driving!!!! What year is it, ill take cre of that for you!!!
I used Ecklers quite a bit in the past, and used their discount to get a great deal on a harness bar about 8 weeks ago. No problems. But, I appreciate your story and will keep it in mind.
Very poor communication on a backordered item ordered on 4/15/09. I finally called Ecklers the middle of June to find out the status and they said the bag the Zainos car care kit came in was obsolete. They never bothered to contact me to let me know about it. I carefully asked them to find a box and see if they could round-up and ship me the contents that would have been in the bag. I got the order the last week of June.
Communicating with your customers is one of the easiest ways to keep their business.
whats everyone experience with corvette central? I might place an order soon if they are any good.
So far so good.
But as with most suppliers they seem to be running with less on-hand inventory. Everyone has cut back inventory levels due to these brutal economic times.
Why did you not drive down there and take care of this long before hand?
We are both about an hour's drive from them. If I had one problem like that, I'd get in the Vette and drive down (over for me) to Titusville and resolve the matter.

It's my only car so I can't exactly loan it out. Unless you have a supercharged vette that we are going to swap for a few days

I can understand your frustrations.
I am staying in Tampa for the summer which is why I needed the cover.
If I was in Daytona I certainly would have paid them a visit after the 4th or 5th time of not being able to get in contact with anyone.
Interesting thread - I happen to be directly related to someone who works for Ecklers (rather not mention them or my relation). I have heard many stories like the ones told here and from an insiders perspective it relates directly to the fact that most of the people working there are not "into cars". They simply have a 9 to 5 and a paycheck - no passion for corvettes or any other cars for that matter. Of course, there are a select few who have a great passion and knowledge for cars, however they are heavily outweighed.
Another thing to consider is that Ecklers has recently started selling parts for many other cars and trucks - even mercs and bmws. By no means does this mean they can slack on customer service. However, they are not so much of a specialized corvette vendor. My relative is working extremely hard to get things turned around, but for a company of this size it is a long process.
If you are local (brevard county) and have a stupid problem with Ecklers, shoot me a pm - I am sure my relative will help you out and keep the problem in mind for the future. For everyone else - shop at your on risk Seriously though, they do have some "good guys (and gals)" working to make things right so dont doubt them 100%.
Have a good one and pray Ecklers does not start selling Ford parts .
