I have a 98 corvette with 115,000 miles on it and my refrigerant leaks out fast and I think its coming from my compressor because when I got the car the belt was rotten into pieces and hadn't been used in a while. Also my compressor clutch seems to be rattling very loud all of a sudden. I had to cut the belt and remove it because it was so loud.
So i ran on to a compressor that's really cheap compared to buying a new one.
It came off of a 07 corvette engine. Is the compressors really different? I have the brackets and everything.
Or could I rebuild my old one? Or would it cost as much as a new one?
What I do in a case like this is call or go by an A/C repair shop and visit with them. The ones around here will help a person out with information and pricing of rebuilt or new parts. Also they will recharge unit for you after you have changed your parts. Most shops are pretty helpful, not all but most.
