shifter getting hot!!!
My shifter is getting really hot at times wen I'm doing city driving or just cruising. It came with a short shifter when I purchased the vette. Is this normal for a 01 z06? Also I feel the heat throughout the center counsole. Makes my gf go crazy, she says it gets too hot next to her leg lol.. what might be the problem or is this normal?

The tunnel gets hotter than he11. Don't leave anything in the arm tray stash unless you wanted to melt it. On track it is so hot if you touch the shifter metal you'll get burnt. You could try a tunnel plate with insulation on it. That would cut down on it. But it won't go away. The exhaust is in that tunnel and the cats are right in that area your gf complains about. I always keep the AC split between floor/vent.
I did try wrapping the exhaust pipes with header wrap once. It helped keep the tunnel cooler. Burned up a Ti muffler though...

go to Lowes or home depot and get a roll of water heater insulation. the alumium roll type. There is some faily thin rolls.
Cut it to fit under the carpet along the tunnel.
