door external key lock

Thanks a lot for your rapid response to my question.
Same as you, I never used the key door lock either until last month. I was getting ready to take a 7,000 mile road trip and I tried the lock before the trip because I was concerned about locking my only remote in the ignition.
What I decided to do was detach the remote from my ignition key and carry the remote in my pocket in case I left the key in the ignition and locked the door.
I am also experiencing a problem with my passenger window not operating. I have always had this problem but I found that if I slammed the door while holding down the power window button it would free up and work ok. After not driving the Vette for a couple of weeks or so I would still have this problem. Now the window will not go up or down but I do hear the relay clicking in the door when I push any of the power window buttons.
I have read some replys to this problem and some say it may be a bare wire shorting out in the harness connection between the body and the door. I will look into this tomorrow.
