Default Road Trip

Wondering what your experiences have been driving your C5 for a length of time.
My wife and I are thinking of going on a trip to S.C. and we were trying to decide what car to take. Either the Land Rover or the C5.
I know two complete different vehicles but I would like to go on a long trip in the C5.
So, my questions are;
what are your experiences driving your C5 for a lot of hours at a time?
what things should I consider while driving?
what should I take with me for comfort?
etc.

Thanks for your input.

You're kidding, right?? Take the C5 for sure!!

I've driven acrosss country 3 times in mine. One time I drove 16 hrs straight and 980 miles....stopping only for gas a couple of times.
C5's are great road trip cars.......great mileage and comfort too.
Why get laughed at in a Rover!

Take the Vette. I drove from Bosie to Oklahoma City, from Boise to Las Vegas and from Boise to Colorado Springs. Great trips, all. Great gas mileage (32.4 mpg across Wyoming with cruise set at 82) Very comfortable. Adequate cargo room. 12 disc changer gave me great tunes. No question, we take the Vette whenever possible.

First, buy a mask for the nose and maybe for the mirrors. Cheaper than repairing stone chips.
Second, watch driving at night. Deers, shunks, racoons and vettes don't mix well.
Last, enjoy.

I've driven my C5 to both Colorado Springs and to Bowling Green from OKC. The car gets great mileage and is very comfortable and fun on a long trip!

Take the Vette!!!! Hands down, the most comfortable car we own for road trips and great gas mileage. Plenty of room for luggage, comfortable ride, and a perpetual smile!!!!

Default C5 for sure

We drive the C5 all over the country. It's certainly one of the most comfortable cars we're ever traveled in, and I've owned over 125 cars in my many years of driving. It's a no-brainer, take the Vette!

I leave tomorrow for my anual "Loop Of Cali" its about 3000 miles in 10 or so days.

Ive put in 10hrs days before..not fun (except for the driving) the car held up well.

I experienced the misterious reduced power failure twice...I have no idea wht that is... but Im betting its related to reflected road heat on the electronics...

I run full racing seats which I think make teh driving more easy because of the better support

This year its
1. San Diego to Tehachapi ~4hrs
2. Tehachapi to So lake Tahoe ~7hrs
3. Tahoe to Grants Pass via Susanville and Klamath Falls (this is gonna be a long day) ~9hrs
4. Grants Pass to Eugene Or...
5. Eugene down the coast of Or. and Ca back to San Diego

I say take the vette

I completely agree--most comfortable car for road trips, hands down. I've gone from TX to NC, NC to CA, and CA to WY in the past couple years. All absolutely wonderful trips in large part because of the vette!

This is all good to hear, because next week I'm planning on taking a long weekend and driving from the Pittsburgh area up to Burlington, VT. then back. This will be my 1st trip in the vette and I've been driving it dailey here when the weather is good. I am excited, I've got my 12 disc cd changer filled with a couple other optional cd's thrown in for good measure. The car seems to be running great and my AC issues have been taken care of with a new compressor. Bring it on.

Driven my C5 from San Diego to Crater Lake Oregon, to Washington State to the Canadian Rockies, Bamph (sp) then to Glacier Nat Park to Vegas then back to San Diego. One of the best most enjoyable road trips I've ever taken. Don't cheat yourself, these things were designed and made for this type of running. Your gonna find some twisties along the way, and some open field running as well!!!!!!!!!!! Have a great time and take a lot of pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I regularly go for drives in the Vette and take it to Vegas and other locations.

Just take the normal stuff and don't be afaraid of anything extraordinary - if you have Triple AAA then you really have nothing to worry about.

You will probably get better MPG in the Vette anyway

They are comfortable and fun to drive, make sure the AC is all good and have a good time

In all my cars I always have Road Flares and a small tool kit!

Thanks,Matt

You all have definitely gone on some nice trips, and long ones.
This car is basically my daily driver but I only drive it 4 miles to work. So, I do not get to experience the highway driving much.
And it seems all of you find the car very comfortable for trips.
I agree I would get a heck of a lot better gas mileage in the Vette.
Thank you all.

Take the C5 - we took my '00 on quite a few trips between here (central Missouri) and Nashville and it was a blast. Very comfortable ride, great gas mileage, and plenty of room for all the stuff we needed to take. You won't regret it.

Take the vette. Wife and I drove the C5 from Rhode Island to Key West and back over a two week period. We racked up 3700 plus miles taking side trips etc. Average fuel consumption was 26.7 over the entire trip with 32+ mpg while on the open highway. I am a large man over 6' and 300lbs. The car not only ran well it was extremely comfortable the entire trip. Trunk allowed us to take enough of what we needed including clothes for a wedding (reason which precipitated the trip). What to take...AAA card and your wallet.

Take the Vette, I took my mom to Orlando and she though it rode better than my Gma's Buick ,15 plus hours straight through. I've also taken a number of 9-12 hour drives only stopping for fuel. A pretty comfortable car, with room for some storage with the top down, of course.

After several multi thousand mile trips in C5s, I consider them THE car for a road trip.
Great comfort, mileage, luggage space..........
