Default 2001 z06?

Hi gals and guys. Just sold my 2005 C6 and am looking at a 2001 Zo6 with 19K miles. Book values are all over the place.

He is asking 24K. 2 very minor scratches. Extras are Borla cat backs and K&N intake.
Does this sound reasonable? Kellys Blue Book has it at 21,500 and NADA is at over 23,000. With the market as soft as it is right now what would you guys offer?

Thanks,
photoguy

If hes asking 24k I doubt he would drop all the way to 20-21, but I think anything under 23 is a good price considering it sounds to be in good condition and the low miles. Just to show how its dropped in 2 years I bought bought my 01 with 19k miles for 29k otd and it that was a "good deal" then.

I would not buy an 01 and I would not pay over 20k for that car. The market is too soft and flooded with Z06s. Too many deals out there to give away your money for this underpowered overpriced 01.

I'm on my second 2001 and they are the best. I've had the other years but never again, the 01 rules. YES, buy it ASAP.

I have a 2001 coupe and it has been flawless. What problems have you seen with the 01 Zo6?

I haven't seen any problems other then not as much power as the 02+ Z06s. For the money I would buy newer with better engine.

The engine is the same! The cam is slightly bigger and the valve are slightly lighter, 20fwhp is nothing. If you plan on modding it does not make a damn bit of difference other than saying you have a newer car. Some 01's did have a oil consumption problem but most that had the problem were fixed under warranty and in most cases you have nothing to worry about.

Don't underestimate the '01's. I have seen some put down more power than the 02-04's. If the car is nice enough to satisfy you and you are happy with the price, then I say go for it. Although me personally I wouldn't pay no more than $21k.

Default Make an offer ! Always make an offer........

No matter what the price make an offer. You do not know what his situation is or just how long he has to sell and the perowned market is in flux all over America.

I have a one previous Kalifornia owner '01 with 24,000 that I bought three years ago last march for $21,500. My car is perfect. If you are not aware of the general oil consumption issues that peaked in '01 read my post;http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...post1570223936

I have no qualms about the '01 Z06, infact purposely sought out the '01 Z06. Bo your homework , as you should with any Vette. Get hold of the GM service history ( ask the GM dealers service dept for a copy, you'll need the VIN number), get a CarFax or equiv. and have the car inspected by a knowledgeable professional ( its money well spent if the car turns out to have any problems).

The 385hp vs 405hp is actually so easy to over come. You have the catbacks, so add the '02-'04 Z06 larger opening air filter box cover ($25-$40), swap the accordian connection air duct to the MAF with a smooth silicon one ($40), and a good tune up ($200-up) and you have 20hp.

Good luck, dave

Unless its speedway white, I wouldnt pay a dollar over 20k. You can get some 02s with some low mileage for 21-22 right now

20 HP is 20 HP! If he does not plan on changing the cam, I's stick to an 02+. Unless, the buyer is satisfied with 385HP. Also, I'd make sure the oil consumption problem was taken care of under warranty. If not, if he's buying from a private owner, he needs to make sure the current owner is the original owner, so he can ask if there has been oil consumption problems. Too many questions with the 01's and being under powered, that's why I never thought twice about buying an 01.

On a side note, I bought an 03 z06 with 19,500 miles a couple months back for $24K.

The 01 is not "under powered" it is a drivers race in the quarter mile between an 01 and 02+ C5 Z06

Went and looked at it today. It is in very good shape. Wheels are not scuffed at all. There are 2 minor scratches, one beside the gas lid which is about 1/2 long and another smaller one. It will need 4 tires by spring.
I am going to make a 20K offer and see what happens. With 0nly 19K miles I feel that 20K would be a fair price seeing that I will need to spend 1500.00 for 4 new tires down the road.

lmfao at the underpowered comment!!! some people have no clue. my 01 has never gotten outrun by any of my friends 02+ z06's or any of their c6's (non z) either. 01's rock just like the rest of the c5 z06's and are just as fast.

The 02+ will always have 20hp more. If he does the same thing to the 02+ he will still be 20hp above the 01 with the same mods. I could understand if it was a killer deal on an 01 but it isnt. You can get an 02 and up Z06 for the same price as 01s so why not start out with the better platform and no oil consumption problems.
