I am new to the forum and actually just bought my first corvette about two weeks ago. I noticed that I am getting a lot of road noise and such inside the car and was wondering if there is an inexpensive way to cut down on it..Thanks for your suggestions in advance.
Not inexpensive but if it has the OEM tires there are plenty of choices for replacements and the noise will drop off instantly. The original tires have a bad road hum
Many members fit frost king insulation in the cockpit to kill the noise. Do a search and you'll find plenty of good write ups.
Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new vette. There are many threads in the forum on this and some of the members have posted great pictures of their instals.
I found the noise too invasive and went went with Second Skin products - Damplifier Pro and LLC combo. Others have used Frost King combo they purchased from Lowes/Home Depot.
Many other choices and can be confusing some times, depends on budget and anticipated results.
This is a great forum with great members. The amount of information that is shared and available is amazing.
If the car still has the Goodyear Run-Flats, that is the first place to start. Switching to Michelin A/S Plus ZPs or a non run-flat will help tremendously.
i Really appreciate the quick and helpful responses, I will check into some of the products and find the forum where they discuss this. Thanks again for the help and also for the warm welcome to the forum.
you can waste money on stuff that isn't actually sound deadening, and has virtually no actual benefit... Or you can spend a ton of money on very heavy stuff that actually is deadening, and spend days with your car torn apart just to get OK results, or you can replace your tires. That is the most effective thing you can do.
It doesn't have run flats on it at this time, but when I need to replace the tires I will definetly look for a quieter tire. I really do appreciate all the help, I check out the links and got some really good info.
Hi,
Welcome to the forum! Everyone is correct and ths right tires can make a big difference. Ive tried a fix that helps. Unfortunetly the last time I posted this I really got bashed. If you are NOT using your storage bins in back take several trashbags put them in the storage wells and fill them with packing peanuts. A lot of people thought this was crazy but I'll tell you it works and its cheap. If you are using the bins your S.O.L. Its amazing how much tire and road noise comes up thru these wells.
....................Good Luck!
I have two queen size pillows with black pillow cases bought at Wally mart for next to nothing. They kill a lot of road noise, will squash forward for carrying most items and don't move around. They are just small enough to stay away from the rear speakers.
