Default Stupid differential fluid question

Hopefully this weekend I'm going to finally be able to replace my axle seal (using cajundudes writeup) to stop the stupid leak and while I've got it up on jacks I'd like to replace the differential fluid. I've never done this to any car before so the question is...do I need a special tool to pump the new fluid in after I've drained it? I see the drain and fill plugs, just wanna make sure I have everything I need before I put it up in the air. Don't fail me corvette forum! Thanks in advance.

Here you go. Some guys have used small pumps they pick up at Harbor Freight or auto shops to get the fluid in. I'm sure someone will chime up.

Was 6 minutes quick enough?

Differential Lubricant Change
Draining Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Clean any dirt from around the differential drain plug.
3. Remove the drain plug and washer from the differential.
4. Drain the fluid.
Filling Procedure

Notice
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Important
Do not operate the vehicle at wide open throttle for a minimum of 480 km (300 miles) after refilling the differential with lubricant and friction modifier. Scoring of the ring and pinion gears may result, leading to differential noise.
1. Install the drain plug and washer to the differential.
Tighten
Tighten the differential drain plug to 35 N•m (26 lb ft).
2. Clean any dirt from around the differential fill plug.
3. Remove the fill plug, lubricant tag, and washer from the differential.
4. Fill the differential with fluid:
o Fill with synthetic axle lubricant GM P/N 1237826 (Canadian P/N 10953455).
o Add approximately 118 ml (4.0 oz) limited-slip differential lubricant additive GM P/N 1052358 (Canadian P/N 992694).
5. Check the fluid level to ensure it is even with the bottom of the fill plug hole to no lower than 6 mm (0.25 in) below the opening.
6. Install the fill plug, lubricant tag, and washer to the differential.
Tighten
Tighten the differential fill plug to 35 N•m (26 lb ft).
7. Lower the vehicle.

I was able to fill mine just by squeezing the fluid out of the plastic bottle into the diff. GM synthetic fluid and one 4 oz bottle of GM posi lube. Do some figure 8's in a parking lot to work the lube into the clutches.

i used a small length of half inch or so hose and just squeezed it in till it overflowed. Make sure the fluid you use has the limited slip addative in it already. if it does not you can get the small bottle (4 or 6 ounces i think) at the gm dealer for 10 bucks and add the whole thing. Good luck.

an electric drill pump might be of use to you at some point in your fluid changing chores.

6 dollar Harbor Freight pump is the winner. They work so well, Ralph down at the Shell station kept mine cause the 100 dollar SnapOn pump they have is garbage.

be sure you can get the fill plug loose before draining the diff, and add the 4oz first when refilling

Does the car need to be level front to back before you try to fill?
