Welcome Jim. We have a few things in common. I was born and raised in Florida, UM alumni (my money and my children went to ASU so now I bleed maroon and gold), and finally bought my first corvette in November of 2008. It's a 2000 Millennium Yellow A4 convertible and I love it. I thought early on about a new or late model Vette, but glad I went with the C5. I've realized the most fun I've had (other than cruising with the top down on a summer day in the mountains) has been personalizing my ride. It's been a gas adding performance enhancements and little do-dads here and there.
As a teenager and later young adult I wanted a 1966 or 67 vett convertible, but life (job, marriage, kids) also took precedent over that dream. Maybe someday I'll realize that dream, but if not it won't break my heart...cause I'm having a ball with my C5! So enjoy yourself and the fruits of your labor. And Randy's right, there are no stupid questions. This is a great corvette community and you'll learn a lot just reading the posts. Now, like all communities, this one has its share of fruitcakes and occasional malcontents. But overall it's a great group of corvette lovers willing to share their dreams just like you. Enjoy!
