MAKE SURE - You do this somewhere it is safe and away from people and children who might get hurt. Be careful and keep as far as you can from light poles, walls, curbs etc. just incase it gets away from you.
Um...make sure you have traction control turned off. Its a little more fun that way.
Haha... I did that before, twice in a row before I figured it out. Started thinking something was wrong with the car. Why is is bogging out so bad? Ahhhh.... forgot about the damn peel out button.
The one problem I have always had while trying to do a burnout is wheel hop. Luckily I haven't damaged anything, but if there is anyone here who can provide some advice for avoiding wheel hop, that would be appreciated..
What are you guys even talking about? 13 posts and not one person has explained to this guy how to correctly do a burnout.
First make sure you turn off traction control.
Then push in clutch and rev motor above 4k rpm
Then dump the clutch and mash the gas
At the same time take your left foot and press the brake pedal all the way down while still mashing the gas pedal.
Then when you are ready to move down the street just let off the brakes and continue the burnout down the street.
Please make sure you are in a huge open area with nothing or any cars around. It will take you a couple trys before you get the whole timing of the mashing gas, letting off clutch then hitting the brakes while mashing the gas.
Good luck and be safe.
You dont really want to slam down the brake pedal because then you're working against your rear brakes. If you only put the brake pedal down just enough to keep the car from moving, which wont be much since your rear tires are not getting traction, you will only engage the front brakes, therefore not wearing out the rear brakes.
I could be wrong about all that though :P But that's what was in my head when I last went to the track with a RWD car.

Agreed! I made the mistake of doing that with EBC yellow stuff on all fours. Ended up blowing my diff up because the wheels in back were having a hard time spinning. LOL
it depends on your gears. i have 2.73 gears in an automatic with sticky tires, and i have to work a little harder to get 'em to break loose. my coupe wants to launch like it's already done a burnout. those with more aggressive gears have a much easier time burning up the rear tires...but remember, you're not moving when the tires are spinning!
