I have a Valentine 1 and a Passport 9500ix(in different cars) and i prefer the Passport. When i went to buy a Radar Detector they recommended the Passport over ANY other one they had.

I prefer my V1 over MY Passport 8500
THe 9500 is a waste of $$$ they should of spent the effort to eliminate false alerts rather that install a GPS to to just recognize previous ones.

Redline ??? have to chack them out....

Sounds like the Redline is the best one, and should be for the $500 price tag. If I didnt get that one Id choose the Passport 9500.

Are you being serious or sarcastic? The V1 tells you which direction the signal is coming from.

You favor the V1 and with the same breath talk about false alert. Please! I couldn't wait to send my V1 back after giving it a try for a few weeks. I got so tired of the false alerts I quit paying attention to it, and YES I did have it adjusted and X band off. What a piece of garbage, I wouldn't want one if they offered them for free.

OP go with the Passport 9500ix best money spent for this type of equipment.

If you're looking for a Beltronics I've got a heck of a deal going for Bel V955. PM me if interested. The ratings and reviews are through the roof. One of the best values to date. I'd be glad to give a forum member a run away deal on it if someone would like it.

if you live in a busy city I would go with the ix, just disable the autolearn, its broken and it locks out real threats.
If you dont live downtown you will enjoy the raw sensitivity of the V1.
V1 its the best windshield radar detecor in the market hands down.
Redline is not out yet and I seriously doubt it wll come close to V1's sensitivity, plus the V1 is the only radar detector that will pick up laser scatter.
Which it will save your *** big time.

I am very happy with my 9500ix, like having no x-band and filtering out false signals on my normal routes, having redlight notification is also good

Anymore that is not anywhere near realistic.

In California the Highway Patrols have gotten so thick and scary. They hide in places that I have never ever seen them hide in before. Obviously the State is desparate for $$$$$.

I am also currently looking for a good detector. Going slower than the traffic around you does NOT give peace of mind. They target Vettes over people that are passing you.

I'm ready to start fighting back-- harder.

The Redline, while being the new kid on the block, is actually built on the STi's internals. So in my opinion, nothing new at all.

I've gone through a lot of radar detectors (BELtronics RX65, Escort Passport 8500 x50, V1, Whistler, etc. etc.) and am currently running a V1.

I favor this detector for the simple reason that it is so sensitive and has such an extensive range. I never thought I would care less about having the arrows, but now that I've had them I don't think I could ever go back to a detector that doesn't have the arrows. I just wish Mike Valentine would get off his *** and design a new V1 already. It's been 16 years since the V1 came out and even with their continued updates, it is old technology.
