Here's another driver type to watch out for
.....its to give your self a buffer for the idiot who wants to get too close at the stop....and in case of a chain reaction collision Ive got room to move so Im not hit
And to avoid the OP's orginal observation....I dont move until the car in front of me is well off then I get thru 1st and 2nd pretty quickly...creating a larger buffer betwen me and my idit behind me..
The best training I ever tooks was riding a motorcycle....you've got to have eyes on everyone and thing around you just to stay safe
I was stuck in traffic one day on a steep hill. we were moving forward about 1-2 car lengths at a time every few minutes. this lady behind me seemed to think that if she left only a couple of inches between my rear bumper and her front that the fact she was a bit closer to her destination was going to get her there faster or something. she approached too fast each time. every single time she pulled up I got that feeling...this time she's going to hit me. Eventually I started leaving about a car length between me and the car in front of me, and when she came almost to a stop I hit the throttle and moved so that there was 1/2 car in front and behind. it took her a while to understand why that kept happening.
