when i owned a 90 celica, the biggest thing i wanted to do was shorten the height the headlights opened. The idea i've always been curious about was NSX headlights, which even had projectors.
Snag them off that one auction site and couple them with a good HID kit.
Here's a thought. Maybe bring some lights to market that work well, look good, and don't cost over $500. I think it's BS that we have to pay so much for decent lights. Probably why I got the $90 HID conversion that I admit is halfass.

Well, the cost to make these is pretty high. There are just not that many C5's out there... I too wish they have some cheaper version of projectors.
You do have to understand, all these over $500 are WORTH the price. It's just most of us don't have $600-800 laying around for headlights...
JW sells the HID conversions cuz he knows that too

1st gen NSX had projectors in their pop ups? That photo doesn't really show it.
very much looking forward to the finished product! I like the idea of the clear lens over the projectors, something kind of like the ACA's
are these going to be using D2S bulbs and everything?
its crazy that even before your first posts on this I was looking at my headlights one day and I thought how awesome would that be to design a lighting system in which the headlights would only pop up about 1/2 way and stick some high quality compact HID projectors in there?then several weeks later there was your post!
I was also thinking about trying to get 3 sets of lights under each door, a low beam projector, and an HID high beam and a halogen high beam, so you could switch between halogen and HID for the highs depending on conditions. lots of traffic? that means frequent on and off, use the halogen ones. no traffic? use the HIDs.
I actually spoke with Berger about this kit on the phone, after an hour phone call and the idea that I would have to radically modify this kit, I told him I wasn't interested. I'm glad you all are taking this over, because I really want this kit!
Having lost an ACA kit ballast I can tell you that the HID lights in general, across the board are crap when it comes to working on them. There are no standards among the manufacturers and Phillips website is one of the worst I have ever visited with no online documentation on their hardware. I googled "Phillips and the part number" and got two links, two! Ebay had no current/completed auctions. I looked on ebay at ballasts for sale and couldn't find one with connections looking anything like what the ACA kit used. I also found that connections on many of the ballasts are different (i.e. no standards).
I am having to splice a new ballast into the ACA kit power leads and I'm needing to locate a new wire that goes from the ballast to the bulb because again, there is no standard. I would suggest if you are building a kit and you want to make people happy you offer parts for easy repair and use "widely used" ballasts. Having a headlamp go out and it taking you a week to get parts for it is a complete PITA.
