Ok, after reading a few threads on here, I have now ordered my CLB from Adaptive Performance... After what all I read I was scared to drive the car again for fear of getting stranded...
yeah, the more I participate on this forum the more I'm frightened beyond all things man that my steering column will lock forever. Thats gonna be the first thing I install when I get back to the States
I had an 01' with that problem. I used to get stuck in traffic. But, if you try to put it in gear and drive off at least 6 times, you can bypass the lock and drive away. It dosen't solve the problem, but it gets you home. I traded it in on a new 2005, and traded that in on a 2008 Z06. Two days ago, I bought a 2003 with 8,200 miles on it, and almost 20k in goodies the original owner put into it. I got a carfax on the car, it did not show any problems with the car, just allot of oil changes and other maintanance service's.
From: Fredrikstad, Norway - sorry if my english isnt to good...

Hate to tell you but you are wrong in your assumption. 6 or 60 attempts will not clear or bypass anything, consider yourself lucky that the lock disengaged. Read up on how the system works and fails. If you just bought an 03 check and see if the CLB is there. Don't rely on car fax or any other history to think you will not have this problem in the future. As others have stated there are C5 out there that had the problem or ones that will have it.
I'm glad rest of you are getting CLB's installed. You can now enjoy your Corvette without risk of getting stranded.
