Default 2001 z06 Problems?

What are the common problems with the 2001 z06's? Also are they expensive to fix?

they accelerate quite well; which has the potential to lead to moving violations.. keep a good eye on your speed!

The good thing is its a Chevy and usually not anymore to fix than any other Chevy Model.

25k on my '01Z no problems except the gas gauge issue early on. Started using Chevron gas on a regular basis and gauge issue disappeared. Also use Stabil during winter storage and that may have contributed to the gauge getting fixed, just don't know but it has worked fine for 8 years now. No other issues besides the column lock which was fixed under warranty.

33K here and only had bothersome clicking from rear axel.Took spindle out and cleaned, flushed out rusty crap, lubed well with motorcyle chain lube and no clicking anymore.I take care of this beauty and she takes care of me.I don't know why there is lots of negative stuff written about 01's. I've been very content with mine.Any car, even new ones can just happen to be a lemon.

67k miles on mine.

Torque tube bushing (front) failed
Headlight gears
one front spindle replaced (the speed sensor was bad)
ebcm

^those things can happen (and do) to any C5.

She's now retired from daily driver duty and is being turned into a show car... fully polished engine with more horsepower.

38k and turn signal bulb, tie rod end, the famous fuel guage issue [ treat with Techtron additive ] and one serpentine belt last week. Original tires went 7 years and 32k miles ! Just finished changing all the fluids.

I find that deeply disturbing for some reason I don't fully understand.

I have an '01 and it's been great. Most just have common problems to all C5's. Mainly though....some were "oil burners"....but many were "re-rung" under warranty. Just research whatever vette you are buying. Overall a great vette and excellent value for the $$$

29k on the car when I bought it last year....9.5k since I bought it...two HPDE events and one trip to Dragway. Kind of garage queen by the two sisters that had it before me .

The 01s have no special problems of their own... however they will eventually probably suffer from the ABS errors that all C5s do. Easily fixed at www.absfixer.com.

Default Common problems?

Well common to all C5 is the column lock issue, drives side rear axle seal are the only issues I have had on my 2001 Z. This link might help if you're wondering about the worst case scenariohttp://www.eugeneleafty.com/Corvette.asp#Oil woes
