Hi, tried a search and nothing came up. For the last couple of days active handling has come on while driving at 60 - 70 MPH flat dry road. It seems to be hitting the brakes on the passenger side rear wheel and seems kind of dangerous. Does anyone know what causes this and how I can troubleshoot it?
Thanks.
Hi There:
Check the simple things first. Is your air bridge coupling loose? Are your tires balanced? What codes are being displayed on the DIC? Dealer would have to check the yaw sensor. Possibly a bad yaw sensor if going in a straight line & at highway speeds & the brakes are being applied & the a/handing message is displayed.

I had the same issue. Mine turned out to be a steering position sensor. The tech said the most common cause is the wheel speed sensor, SPS is the second most likely candidate.

Mine was the Steering Wheel Position Sensor. Eventually, I started to get the P1287 code with it. It's pretty scary driving down the freeway at 65 mph and the "system" decides to "tap" one of the front brakes.

Thanks for all of the answers. It is an 01, I have not changed the tires. Robsc501, what is the air bridge coupling? And I'm not getting any codes.
Can anyone recommend a place in southern NH to look at it? We have a big dealership in Nashua, MacMulkin but I am not impressed by their service department from many non-vett's I have brought there.
I know folks who swear by MacMulkin for their 'Vettes, and there's are worth alot more than mine.
I haven't needed service yet, so I can't speak first hand.
They are a sponsor here on the Forum, and typically get good reviews.
The dealership should be able to connect to a Tech II scanner and test the SWPS. It tests for: Power (+5V), GND. It also looks for linear voltage sweeps (0 - 5V) from both of the sensor outputs (A & B) that are 90 degrees out of phase to each other.
Hi There:
The air bridge has a big clamp around it.About 3 1/2" in diameter The rubber is shaped like a accordian. Take a common s/driver & make sure its tight.

Just give me a two second explanation on how this figures into AH?
Hi There:
Thanks for correcting me. I goofed.Meant to say that when a/h is engaged that it sends a signal to the throttle plate to partially close the t/ plate thus reducing the power.

it does? never heard that before.
I've understood that Traction Control does that, btu this is the first time I've heard of AH doing it.
