Stealth Light Cannons: Development process
Since there’s so much interest, I decided to keep you guys up-to-date on the development for the Stealth light cannons. First, let me thank CF member “stormrider” for loaning me some parts that made ANY attempt at this project financially possible.
Product development will be divided into 5 stages:
1) Finding a suitable mounting location for the projectors
2) Designing the Aluminum mount for the projectors
3) Designing the mold for the Shroud. I plan to use .125” ABS for easy thermoforming and to keep from having to paint anything.
4) Designing the mold for the main lens (which will allow me to produce my own lenses)
5) Finalizing hardware location points and first mounted test.
So far this is stage I.
Quick test-fit of the lens:
I will only be test fitting the drivers side since the passenger side fender is mis-aligned due to a collision by the previous owner.
The most important part of this project was to ensure the projectors could be mounted under the lens where they could provide effective output. I used a coroplast sheet as a temporary mount for the lights to position them. After about 3 hours of cutting, trimming watching south park on DVD and positioning, I found a suitable position:
This image shows the projectors entire lens clears the front of the bumper meaning it will provide full output. I intend to move the low beam projector about ½” inwards and the high beam a full inch inwards to fill up the space.
This shows the clearance to the main lens to be about ¼”
I’m open to opinions and suggestions from you guys…since you will be the buying public.
Update: Price for the base kit is $1275 shipped. There will be a GP in the first week of january.

Looks good! I might like that if everything can be painted red and have the clear lens over it. Kinda like the C6 has.

Burning Brakes
WOW. These will be the sweetest looking fixed headlights made yet. I dont like any of the others due to either all the "chrome" or how the projectors are raised higher than the body line. These will look great in black or body color! Kudos!

It's Do-able however illegal in many states (including texas for sure) You could tint an "eyebrow" and leave just the front section clear and you'd be 50-state legal.

Melting Slicks
That's going to be looking amazing.. my main gripe with the other fixed lenses is how they have a little bubble. If you can get rid of that and keep it smooth, that'd be awesome.

With the new ones, There will be 3 mahor pieces: the Aluminum mount, Shroud and lens. The Shroud and lens will need to be professionally formed which will raisee costs, but I'm going to try and keep it reasonable for you guys.
For those of you wanting a DRL-strip option I'm keeping that in mind but at the moment it doesn't look like it's possible. I might be able to do a C-6 style DRL with LED pods.

No, any modifcation needed will allow the stock headlights to be re-installed......not sure why you'd do such a thing though...

Safety Car
Looks great
<cough>...voting for a black base to the housing..<cough>...(says the man who drove up in a little black car . . . )
Also, and Im sure you've thought of it, might wanna think about air flow in/out of that enclosure. Fogging / water getting in whereever air gets in ? / heat dissapation ? (although never having hid's in anything Im not sure the get hot?)

Wow, those will be killer. If the price is decent, they will sell really well.
Any worries about the lens cracking under heat like the Depo lights? Im assuming they will be adjustable as well? Im sure i'll think of a few more questions, but im interested!!
