Okay, Ive always wondered this and can't find the answer anywhere on the net. Some fifth gens have single side scoops, and some have them with two (a long piece in the middle) I know this isnt a yearly thing as Ive seen almost every year of fifth gens single and double. Is it a package thing? Someone please help! Thank you
Not sure if you are referring to the Body Side Moldings (BSM), however all C5s offered during their run had a single front side cove. Some owners opted to install mesh screens or other decorative/aftermarket enhancement, however the cars rolled out of the factory with the cove open.
The BSM runs up to the side of the cove, however it does not split the cove in two.
Again, not sure if that is what you are referring to...
That single long piece you are referring to was an option from the factory. It is to provide protection from doors being opened against it. You will find many posts on the pros and cons as to the actual looks of them on the C5.
So if this is what you are talking about, you are saying all 5ths came out with singles?
Yep, those are called Body Side Moldings. Some have them, some do not. Most were dealer ordered options, especially on the later models.
You will find multiple posts on this subject as they have a love/hate relationship with many owners debating the pros/cons. If you have them and want to remove them, they basically peel off and the door and fenders are the same underneath.
If the car is a daily beater being parked anywhere you can wedge the car in the city, then I'd love 'em I'm sure.
well, they're painted so if hit, they'll show scuffs real well... If I was not afraid of any adhesive related etching in the paint, I'd take mine off long time ago. Give it to GM to mismatch black
Believe it or not, the BSMs actually improve aerodynamics !
BTW, I don't have them nor do I like them.
LOL, at what speeds? You do realize that if you maintain just the right distance behind a semi or even an SUV, this is the greatest improvement in aerodynamics you can ever achieve?
I have them and have been toying with the idea of removing them for a LONG time... one day
same here, although it will never happen-unless the car goes in the body shop for a complete repaint.... GM paint quality never made me feel secured and never will.
