I believe the F45 is the carryover system with maybe a few updates from the C4s. I'm positive that the F55 is magnetic, not sure of the F45 though.

would anyone object to plugging one in from a 1999 ?

I was told I need one from 00-02 wonder what this would do?

F55

F55 was introduced in the 2003 model. I believe a tech2 should be able to trouble shoot your problem. Find a repair shop that is solid with c5's and you will solve your problem quickly. Best of Luck!
