I won't be able to get my Vette into my garage for a couple of days to change the oil because I am rebuilding my Wrangler engine and have it out on the stand. Will running 250 to 300 more miles on the Vette before the oil is changed do any harm. Rough guestimate is about 5200 miles.
why?? GM spent millions designing that system and numerous people on this forum have proven time and time again through lab testing that the oil coming out of these cars was more than fine for another few thousand miles.
My 99 with a blower and cam has over 104K on it and I have never changed the oil at 30% or sooner..I always go to the change oil soon /10% message and in some cases have gone to less than 5%
BTW with my driving style that equates to somewhere around that ever so magical 3000 miles...in some cases maybe 4500....maybe
yup and we have had a few of those engineers at a driving school, and showed them how a few hard driving session can take that 97% down to 50% in only two days.
It wont kill the engine. You might be surprised that when an engine starts to go, it will be quickly. Knowing what is going on in the oil helps.

As everyone else said, you'll be fine. The early OLM's were much more conservative than they are today, and even those havea huge safety factor. If your car's stock and see's normal driving, it will be no problem.
It's been over that magical "or one year" mark since I changed my oil/filter. The DIC shows 90%. I won't change it because I might be able to get it out on nice weekends over the early winter months.

Think you have lots of cushion....... My favorite story by a forum member, was after he sent his oil to be evaluated, the company's reply was: "Put the oil back in the engine!".....
Look in your owner's manual, does it list 10,000 or 15,000 miles as the maximum?
If it lists 10,000 miles, you are okay. Early C5's (I am not sure what the year cutoff is) had a 10,000 mile maximum oil change interval. After a lot of used oil analyses, GM increased the MAXIMUM from 10,000 to 15,000 miles. If your 1999 lists 10,000 miles as maximum, you can reset your DIC and run down to 50% a second time.
Cutoff is 2001 and later are 15,000 mile maximum.
