I am in no way telling you not to replace it. This is merely an observation. Since I've read about this on the forum a couple of years ago, I've looked at several balancers on C5's and all of them wobble "just a little" as you say. Enough to be noticeable if you're looking at it, but not enough to cause a problem.
I've noticed it as well. Never seen one that didn't have a little wobble to it.
Its hard for me to justify a $5-600 balancer for an engine that is internally balanced. I know, there are differences between physical balancing and harmonic dampening. I want to protect my engine, but when mine goes bad I will probably put a new stock balancer back on.
my fathers 80k miles C6 Just had the balancer bolt back out. He never would have known if the belts hadn't started squealing. I am ordering him an ATI balancer and ARP bolt asap. That should solve it. As fo the loosening the subframe bolts that sounds like a great idea if it indeed works.
I still looked at it since my 99 FRC had one fail at 30k. I used a powerbond and replaced it myself. The steering rack was not much fun.
There are some good threads that detail how it is done and have pictures. They helped me a lot. I don't remember and didn't mark those threads, but if you look around some you can find a lot of info on this problem.
