I think FairPrice would would be much more helpful if he went over to the "C5 For Sale Section" and educated all the sellers on how over priced their cars are.
The above is an example of a trick that sellers use. They can make up any numbers to support their asking price, even if those numbers are fabricated. There is no proof that those cars are selling at those asking prices.
Kelly Blue Book and Edmunds is proof of used car values, printed in black and white and made available to everyone.
Do you have actually have a mouth or do you just talk out of your a**?
Someone asked "Why do Porsche owners sell their cars at 2X KBB values". I guess the guy did a quick search because he deleted his post, but it is worth answering.
Here is a 1999 Porsche 911 Cab, 79K miles, asking price 19K.
Going by Kelly Blue Book trade in value for fair condition is $16,725 or $18,075 for good condition. With an asking price of 19K, that owner is probably prepared to accept 2K less, maybe 3k less. The asking price is not out of line.
This should give buyers cause to wonder why a Corvette owner thinks his mass produced Corvette should be listed for $10K over Kelly Blue Book price.
LOL You happen to have picked the first water cooled model with known serious engine problems. Do a search for 98 911's and see how many you get that are cheap and aren't way over KBB value. Heck do a search for ALL 911's and obmit any '99 to '04 models. While a lot of these models are way above KBB value, the early ones had engine problems and other issues and will show a lower value. But in general 911's are WAY above KBB. Even the Boxster is generally above the KBB values. Also stop looking at specific examples and get a general feel for ALL the prices.
The Caddilac doesn't hold it's value like a Vette because it's not a Vette. It's a nice normal car that rusts like the rest of GM's vehicles. You know this. That's why you want a Vette and not a Cadillac.
That being said, the C5 will continue to depreciate. Nice examples will still be above book value. They are priced high (to you) now because that is what they are selling at.
I can tell you those wheels are extremely rare, especially for a '63 since there was limited delivery (casting issues)
I'd say the wheels are $5-9k depending on date code/condition. Even without being a Zo6, that car is still in the $120k range.
In a way, that '63 is almost priceless; there are very few like it as a replacement.
I drove a '63 SW once, but the engine wasn't matching and it was a color change car. It was silver but repainted Riverside Red.
What also makes it unique is it's a 2 owner car...My buddy bought it from his father-in-law, who bought it new in 63
and youre right about the value of the car...but like I said earlier...take that car to Barrett-Jackson, let two guys with deep pockets and BIG egos start fighting over it...it could easily bring twice that amount
Something is gained by the soon to be Corvette owner.
Sellers ripping people off gives Corvettes a bad name and drives people away. Sellers should ask close to KBB and Edmunds values. That is the correct thing to do.
You're an idiot. How does a sale make the actual car look bad? KBB and Edmunds are NOT standalone auto appraisers. Please exit the forum and take your stupidity with you
I don't have to sell my cars.... I usually sell them to make room for something that I want more than what I have. If, I don't get want for them then I'll keep them. Not a big deal, but that hasn't been a problem and I don't think it ever will be. I always have buyers for my cars. I don't have a sales pitch, the cars sell them selves.
I don't feel like giving my **** away because some 17 year old boy can't afford the big boy toy. I purchased my cars new and took a big enough hit on them. Most of my cars have less tha 10k on the clock and I get my asking price.
you don't have the expertise to educate anyone. You don't have a clue. Now move on little boy
FP is trying to help buyers avoid getting taken. The posts are helpfull, most people do not know the value of a vette. The used car guides are a good place to look. Too many vette owners listing their cars at outrageous prices, so if a noob came by and found a 2000 listed at 18K they would think they are getting a deal.
FP has more expertise in pricing than the fool above. FP lists his source. The fool above is probably an old fart who took out a second mortgage to buy his "big boy toy".

Let's common sense this, you have a join date of 10/21/2009 not even two weeks ago and are already nutswinging on fairPrice Nice try FairPrice, way to setup more than one account just to make it look like you are getting some fanbase. Very lame.
