I use Kelly Blue Book because they are the largest automotive vehicle valuation company in the United States. They have been publishing a guide to used car values since 1926.
Edmunds has been around since 1966. This quote is from wiki: "The Edmunds.com True Market Value Used Vehicle Appraiser estimates the actual transaction prices for used vehicles bought and sold".
They are two very good tools to know what a used car is worth (in addition to having a good mechanic check out the car to find defects).
I just wandered over from the C6 section & stumbled upon this thread. My only question is why do you think people should sell their car to you for what KBB lists as TRADE IN VALUE?? Everyone knows when you trade in a car you get less than if you sold it outright. The advantage of trading in is the fact that it's a no muss,no fuss transaction. You don't have to wait on a buyer or deal with tire kickers. Not to mention in most states you only pay the tax on the difference, which is a nice bonus.
Wow! Were did you come from? While NADA,Kelly and Edmunds are good reference material for bank loans and a good base to go off of, the car and location dictates the price. If you lump a caddy with a corvette as resale you are a very un informed individual. Harley's and Honda's are both bikes but Harleys hold there value much better, it's called the market and what consumers deem popular. You should find a new forum to visit, this one is not for you.
