2981 ! Thats excellant

care to post how you got to that weight ??

I still have to get to the Evaporator Core I think I am just going to wait till I need to go into the dash till I pull it out,
I still have to pull both airbags and need a cool set of headlights to replace the pop-ups,I've already lost the airconditioning and and condenser windshield wiper wash and pump ,

I also lost the very Fatt A/C delco Battery approx 35lbs ! and in it's place I added a Deka battery 20lbs to which I added a mini solar charger that links up via the cigerette lighter and keeps the Battery around 12.8 volts, there is an 11.5lb version of this batterie but I think I will opt for the higher 18Ah 15lb version I have 26Ah now and it's working great! soon I'll be pulling the airpump and associated plumbing,
In about 3 weeks I will be adding a header system that will futher lighten the car 20lbs via loss of the cast iron manifolds, I added the two tip cat back verses the four tip. I took out the reverse light panel and fabbed up a panel to match my car I will add L.E.D's to the vented lower rear facia when I find the one's I like
Next I want to loose the coolant overflow tank , Thanks to the guy that suggested adding a bottle in it's place,as well as the guy that suggested lightening up the front Bose to speakers without an amp,

working on locating the pipe to fab up a ti X-pipe mid section for the exhaust

Mockup still have to loose the crome frame and 4 bolts too much reflection in this picture

The guys I saw used a C6 front rotor but a C5 front rotor should work fine.

I must be missing something here. Last time I changed rotors the fronts were significantly larger and heavier than the rear. Not sure how putting a larger heavier rotor on the back helps, in fact pretty sure you'd have to change more than just the rotor.

I would think that the C5Z was designed to be a light weight racecar built for the street. And looking back at the FRC cars, they were originated as stripper cars ready for roadracing/track use. So other than shedding away the creature comforts such as A/C, radio, heater, and the passenger seat, anything beyond that such as the airbags is downright dangerous. Especially if you are going to do any drag racing at the track. I agree that you should "bulk up" the powerplant.

I'll agree that you can always sway the horsepower/weight rating by just adding more HP. But those of us that AutoX and do Road Course stuff a lot shedding weight has other benefits. Specifically braking and transition.

My car is currently getting a dry-sumped 427 and the AC is getting ditched to accommodate the dry-sump pump, as well as shed a few lbs.

I'm also interested in where the "low hanging fruit" for weight loss is (other than the driver, cuz I know where I can shed a few ). The airbags and stereo are staying in for now, it's still a street car for probably another 1-2 years.

A lot of people seem to think this is a drag car, not a sports car. HP dosen't help cornering or braking.

I'm not ready to pull airbags or carpet, but a lighter battery or carbon hood appeal to me. I recently read about light weight lug nuts. A little pricey to me, but it is unsprung rotational mass.

not trying to start anything here but why on earth would you remove your reverse lights on a street driven car??? a track car is one thing but removing all kinds of stuff that can put your safety at risk or other motorists is not the smartest thing to do.

Nice car in your profile,

Good question about reverse lights if you look back in the posts,

I mentioned that I will be adding LED lights not only very bright, but also very small and light

I mostly eliminated the reverse lights because I think they are way oversize and don't really fit the car well
my rear panel is not done yet I am going to eliminate the crome lic plate frame and re-mount a black plastic or carbon frame, also the screws will disappear and I've already glued the panel to a piece of 1/8" gator or foam board as most people know it

Thanks, For All The Adds Everyone !
