The pop-ups date back to 1963. The designers started working on a design for hidden headlights back in the late '50's, in the day of Harley Earl.

To be honest, it had NOTHING to do with being a good idea. It was all about styling the Vette to be "Shark-Like" or "Jet-Like". The Mid-Year Vettes were wildly popular and the hidden headlight design became an icon of the Corvette for the next 40 years!!!!

When the designers of the C6 were tossing around the idea of fixed headlights, there was a lot of opposition from the old-school traditionalists.

I like the styling of both the C5 and C6. The time was right for change!

I like the headlights on the C-7 prototypes, tall but thin types.

There ya go, but expect to pay almost $1300. I have a set coming as soon as he's done with them. I have HID's in the stock lights right now, they are better than stock but wont put out the light that these do.

the Light cannons have their own 3 way adjusters built in:

you can see them around the edges of each module. You can use either a 7mm socket or flathead screwdriver to adjust them.

Performancee looks good. I'd HIGHLY suggest putting a 1/8" sheet of lexan in front of the projectors to protect them.....unless they're weather-sealed units

Hidden headlights made a lot of sense when the lights themselves were more restricted...

I think that may be an error. I fitted my Euros in 2005 and they were $200+ a pair back then.

seriously. my headlights are focused probably 15ft in front of the car and now i cant fix it
Headlights are an Un-Sightly Necessity. It is good that they are hidden away and out of site when not being used.

I don't like the way headlights look on any car so put them away when not in use. In my opinion there is nothing attractive about C6 headlights being displayed right up on the top of the car for everyone to see when they are not in use.

It is not the fact that GM used pop up headlights that are the problems - they are a good idea - They just needed to use better parts / materials in their product. It is typical of GM to try and save a buck here and there. And it leaves people with a bad experience of owning a GM product - that is why they are bankrupt - Because over the years people got tired of all the little problems that shouldn't have had to happened.

If GM would have used brass gears and spent an additional couple of dollars (in huge bulk) then this thread would not exist and people would have one less thing to complain about concerning GM products.

Hopefully GM will get a clue and change things soon.

There are so many things GM could have EASILY avoided with just the C5 such as; Oil Pressure Sending Units going bad - Seat Rocking ($1.00 for better washers), Head light gears, water leaks, ect...... An extra $20 to $50 dollars or so spent on a fine car would have been money well spent in the build process.

All that said - I LOVE MY 99 C5 with only 24,700 miles on it - I have had it for about 3 weeks now.

Because if it doesn't have pop-up headlights it is not a real Corvette and it is not coming home....
That is why I bought an '04 an plan to keep it until GM regains its sanity.

The only good thing about the pop-ups are that they look good, and are usually very trouble-free.
