I have a friend who towed his 600 lb. ratty chopper on a single bike trailer 1000 miles to Sturgis a couple of years ago behind his 04 Z06. He didn't have any problems and said the car drove fine the whole way. He said alot of people took pictures along the way of his Vette and bike when they stopped for gas or to eat at restaurants.
I knew some one here would have a personal relationship with the F-4. Use to live just outside an airbase in NC and they had F-4's stationed there. Now working in the aviation industry I can appreciatethe engineering and raw power they were built with. Spent some time at Brize Norton with the C-17's a couple of years ago, I'm sure you know where that area is in the Cotswalds. Thanks for your service and your reply.

I don't think the question is "Can a C5 Corvette tow a trailer", but rather "Should a C5 Corvette tow a trailer?"
I think we all agree that the car can, but the GM engineers think it shouldn't....why else would they bother to state that the car was never intended to tow a trailer?
Thinking outside the box really has little to do with it. The engineers that designed the car state it clearly in the owner's manual, and like Jack - that's good enough a reason for me to not do it.
But like so many other things that come up here - it's your car, do what you want with it. I wouldn't do it with mine.
Thanks everybody for your inputs, and like some of you have stated the=at the engineering department at GM stated that the car was not designed to tow and I can respect that. But I can also look at that as a cover your A$$ statement if you know what I mean. I'm sure that if GM didn't put something in writing then it would leave them open to a lot of BS/law suits to deal with as people always seem to go the extreme with things and would expect it to tow their 16' , dual axle enclosed trailer loaded to the gill with out any problems. Seems like people are towing small loads with out any problems, so I will take it all in for what it's worth and start building a small trailer to fit my needs.

Power & handling are not a problem here. It's simply a matter of tongue weight. Keep it light and you'll be fine. I know a lot of Vette owners who tow bikes with no problems.
I agree that the manual states no towing but with all the power available and using common sense, pulling a small trailer is no problem. I fabricated a small cooler holder and luggage rack for my 04 LeMans vert and even with the large trunk, it's nice to have the extra room. I also fabricated a custom illuminated hitch cover that hides whats left of the hitch
