Default quick question for steering column lock

I know there are quite a few threads about this, well here's the good part i ordered a column lock bypass and is suppose to be here Monday, the bad part, it went out on me tonight. I know you once it goes out you can't put the bypass in to fix it, but if I bring it to the stealership would they put it in for me?

I have a feeling it's probably a no, correct? Sorry for such a silly question. and any suggestion for getting the vette on the flatbed when they come and tow it for me?

First thing to try is move the steering wheel back and forth quite hard to see if it will unlock. Sometimes the vibration is enough to drop the locking pin back in place.

From the sticky:

Sometimes the latching relay in the CLB can get out of sync sending the wrong status to your BCM. This has happened to a few folks even with the CLB installed. The CLB latching relay gets out of sync with the BCM possibly due to shock, vibration or relay contact bounce during switching which confused the BCM. The CLB does not physically know which state it should be in; it only switches from one state to the other when it receives a signal from the BCM. The BCM can be reset by pulling Fuse 23 and waiting 10 seconds.

Once its unlocked get that CLB on there pronto

Try to avoid the dealer if at all possible. They'll try to fit the recall kit and charge you a fortune for the shafting.

You may be able to get it unlocked by banging on the steering wheel while inserting the key-there are a few threads on it,do a search.

If you DO get it unlocked, just leave the key in the switch till you install the bypass on Monday-if you don't pull the key,it doesn't lock the column
Good Luck-you had the right idea,it just failed a day or two too soon!!

Thank you guys! So put the key in and turn it to on (with the engine off), or start the car and try to jerk the steering wheel?

Jerk the steering wheel hard to the right with the key off. Then turn it on see if it unlocks.

Thanks again guys. I will give this a try. So if it's unlocked when I turn the key on, do I have to leave it on or can I turn the key back to off, but leave the key in there?

Okay thank you! Then when my CLB comes in tomorrow, just leave the key in and put in the CLB and everything should be good? (even when I take the key out after it's installed).

Okay I apologize for any confusion, I have been talking with 8Vette7 and he has been a big help to me for clarifying everything up. I do have the solid lock ring installed in my car (I can turn it freely without the key, despite a little effort) but the motor kills. IF I have the fuel shut off program what do I do then to remove this or fix this so it won't kill my fuel? I should be receiving my CLB today. Also I put the key in and turned it to ''on'' position with the engine off, should the ''service steering column lock'' still come up? Or is it only if the engine is running?

Thank you again.

Well, I put the CLB in today and everything seems to be working! I took the K-Harness out and no codes or messages or anything come up anymore. Took me about 30 minutes to do (hardest thing was getting the knee bolster off haha) and I would like to thank everyone that helped me with this and sorry for another pesky ''steering column thread''
