Default Another Corvette Down. RIP Gorgeous.

Well, the title says it all. I was coming home from a night out at the bars and stuff... It was actually a good night. I met up with some friends, and we had a ****ing good time.

Anyway, 2:10am, I'm heading through the White Oak / Victory intersection and I see a cross over heading very fast from the left, not stopping. I slammed my breaks, but it was too late. I got hit from the side. We're not sure if she was asleep at the wheel, but she had no idea what happened.

Well, she didn't have a license, but somehow she had insurance. Have no idea if it's real or not, but she was crying and I was staying as calm as possible. Cops asked me if I'd been drinking, I said yeah, but after the field sobriety tests and the breathalyser, I passed with flying colors.

So, the damage is total. The entire front end of my car is tweaked off to the right side of the car by about 2-3 inches. Frame is totally tweaked. The driver's side front wheel was only being held on by the steering rack and sway bar; control arms and a-arms were snapped completely. Both air-bags deployed which is interesting cause I didn't even see it happen, but noticed it when I was trying to get out of the car. (Smelled like the car was on fire thanks to the air bags...) And the driver's side door is completely off the frame, could only open the door by the inside. Not sure what the outside panel is hanging on by.

OK... Time for the pics:

What a shame.

Hope you hang around on the boards (don't disappear) until you get another.

Have you given much thought about your next one? Will it be a 'Vette? C5z or C6-color?

Sorry to see those pictures. At least you didn't invest in the supercharger yet.

This is a time to be thankful that no serious injuries were the result.

Thanks everyone. At this point, the only "injury" is the feeling of glass in my fingers. The driver-side window exploded and was all over the interior and exterior of the car. But aside from that I feel fine so far.

I won't disappear. I promise. Yeah, I've already been thinking about it. I'm going to stick with the C5. Either another EB or maybe a MY. Color is up in the air, but definitely another C5Z or modded C5 coupe. We'll see what happens. I'm not getting another silver car and I really loved the Electron Blue.

I'm going to talk to the insurance company when I wake up in the morning, if I can get to sleep, and I'm going to start looking for another Vette right away. I really LOVED this car. I almost teared up while the front wheel was dragging when they flat-bedded it. But in the end, it's just a car, and there's many Z06s out there.

You're so right, in the end it's just a car, although a great car, but it can be replaced, your health is harder to replace, good luck with your next C5.

Do yourself a favor, next time a cop asks you if you’ve been drinking, even if you have, SAY NO. Lie to them. If you think telling the truth is going to get you off the hook or leniency, you’re sadly mistaken. Its their duty to prove that you’ve been drinking and incapable of driving, not yours. If you had been over the legal limit, you’d be in a lot more trouble (ie you could have been cited at fault, DUI, and your insurance could have dropped you.) Just watching out for you.

Sucks about the car but glad you’re OK

Now lemme get at that intake and trans

Hmmm... Maybe not but lying and saying no and then blowing a .03 will not exactly get you on their good side.

To the OP - keep us posted. It's threads like this that tell me I have to go out and get a agreed value policy. I am nervous about crashing and only getting back 1/2 what I have in it.

Not to derail, but on their good side? I'd rather have a cop hate me than get a DUI

Well, I knew for a fact I was sober. I told the truth because I always do. Sure it could get me in trouble, but they were going to run a sobriety test on me either way. I wanted them to know I was on the level 100% of the time and that there was no way I was at fault for the accident.

I'll keep you all informed. My insurance company had all the information on my car to begin with. They know I have HREs, a breathless performance shifter, and some intake mods. It's the other insurance company I'm mostly worried about. LOL
