If this is a race car, then just remove those items completely. Hardcore
If it is a street car, then there are better areas to remove weight. Even if some hand made carbon fiber panels, the weight savings would be negligible say compared to a carbon fiber hood.
I have done that now but there are cables hanging out everywhere so it would be nice to cover it up with something so I don't get all tangeled up when trying to get out of the car. It's supposed to be a road legal race car
just curious, ever weighed your car? if so what is it
Not yet and I kind of regret I didn't before I started throwing stuff out. Will weigh it next summer, it's off season here in northern europe right now.

no prob, I knew mine weighed in at 3075 with 1/4 tank.
havent it on 3k does sound nice. wondering I can find that 75lbs to get rid of
Several ways to get lighter without sacrificing any creature comforts. Wheels are already pretty light but tires very a lot between brands. Carbon fiber hood. Light weight drycell battery. Aftermarket headers. Cat removal, air pump removal. Manual track race seats, but then again the power is a creature comfort.
I mean hardcore is completely gutted interior, no a/c or heat plus ducting behind dash. Stereo. That's a lot of weight right there.
I went hardcore with my camaro...not doing it with this z06 lol.

Most of these things are already ordered and some are already fitted on the car. Here's how she looks at this time. Back to topic, how should I cover this up without adding the weight of all the plastic?
Yeah I know what you're thinking but the steering wheel, airbag and all that is also gone now

Here is my Buddies HardCore Street Car.......... OK it's not a C5, but maybe it will give you an Idea of a HardCore interior.. Sheet Metal and Dyna Mat!
That plastic is not heavy at all. Put it back in. You made your car look like garbage for no reason. You say it's a street car for Christ's sake.
It makes no sense.
Put long tube headers and an off-road x-pipe. That will save 20+ pounds over stock and gain 30hp.
100 pounds of weight is like adding 10hp. Why make your car look like a theft-recovery when you can just add a hotter cam or set of heads to gain 80+hp?
Have you done any engine modifications or is chopping it the furthest you've gone?

you'll save a good amount on the driver's seat but the manual passenger seat is pretty light already. i have fixed back corbeaus on both sides and I was surprised when I pulled that pssngr seat out....
You can replace the rear window with plastic/lexan, thin grade sheet metal for door skins, remove the headliner. There is a vendor on here who can make(s) carbon front and rear panels, carbon fiber hood, lose the front hood struts and pin it. Replace the trunk lid with carbon fiber. Remove the shroud around the fan, most of the 1/4mi guys remove the front sway bar, nitrogen filled tires, and put yourself on a diet. There's a guy I've been on track with who's C6Z06 was completely redone in carbon fiber, race seat, and the entire dash was removed for a very light weight sheet metal with digital instruments. If money's no option, there are a lot of things that can be fabbed up to reduce weight. Personally, I would just add more power.
But remember there is a difference between street race car and street legal car.
I think what he is asking is how to cover up those spaces that he has already removed (door panels, center console and glove compartment).
Are you any good with fiberglass/carbon fiber? Maybe you could lay the panels on the floor, add a release agent and then fiberglass over top. Once cured, pop the panels and molded fiberglass off. Then paint to match.

And then you will find your weight savings over the stock plastic part is equal to that of trimming your fingernails before each race.
Well, my door panel is not just plastic. It has aluminum braces, door handle, speaker grill, switches and vinyl covering it. You must have some heavy fingernails. Sure it is not a lot of weight, but it sounds like he is building a race car. Every pound makes a difference. It's certainly not something I would do to my car, but his intentions are different.
Miraculix, you may try posting this in the Drag racing section for further ideas.

Since it's a road race car I don't think he's only worried about straight line speed, adding hp doesn't help braking, cornering, etc.
OP you said you have f/i, I know this isn't the cheapest option but get a big cube n/a motor (alum block). You'll easily make the same hp you do now and you'll lose the 100 lbs up front that the f/i adds.
