My Dad and all the men on his side of the family are all gearheads, so I kinda grew up in that, Dad has a '68 Chevelle Convertable that he used to drag at MIR's Midnight Madness a lot, so being there as a kid I saw lots of different cars. Used to be, as a kid, my dream Corvette was a silver Stingray, and I hated the way the C5 looks. I guess when you have your heart on a Stingray its easy to denounce the look of the C5. Fast forward a bit, and the C6 comes out. I loved it, but of course I was in High school. I make a vow to one day own one. Fast forward. Now I'm on leave, home from Iraq for a couple weeks. My older sister has bought a '04 Cobra, and she let me drive it, which was ridiculous. My older brother bought a brand new Civic Si. I decide that I'm tired of driving my beat up '90 Ford Probe or my '89 Camaro, start browsing Craigslist to see whats in my price range. HOLY ****!! is that a Corvette?!
The rest is history...
Btw, I now completly disagree with my childhood opinion of the C5.

what got me into corvettes and wanting a corvette was that my mom as a kid had vettes. and they were not the cheap 1s (well they were cheap back then) mid 60s i use to ride around with her everywhere in everyone she owned and traded for another, like a split window 66 vert etc and she passed away a decade or so ago from MS and i always loved em cause of her and wanted 1 cause of her!!! now i am on my 6th vette and continue to own em to keep my moms memory alive in me and the road!!!! Oh and because they are just a badass car!!!!!

I've driven VW Bugs since I was 15,and I finally decided I wanted something with a little more pep...
Actually,I've wanted a Vette since my neighbor brought home his brand new Stingray in 1963,but it wasn't possible till a little over a year ago-too much other "stuff" to pay for.
If I'd of had a choice,I wouldn't have waited so long, but It was definitely worth the wait

I had my first ride in a '63 split window 327 around 10 yrs old or so. My uncle (the owner) let my dad take me out in it. Needless to say I was absolutely amazed and from that day on I knew I must have one.
Then, when I was in high school, the C5 Z06 came out and I became unhealthily obsessed. Every thing I thought about involved owning that car. I promised myself that when I graduated college I would buy one since I predicted by that time prices would have fallen down in my range. Well, 7 looong years later I was right and in April of this year (2 months before I graduated college because I secured a job and just couldn't wait) I bought an '02 Black Coupe. Not a Z06 because I liked the lines better and the targa, but nonetheless a C5 corvette. I love this car to death and have modified it to beyond a stock Z06. Couldn't be happier.
However, to this day I still crave a '67 427 coupe with sidepipes

I always wanted one.
Had the chance a year ago but bought a Mustang for FL since we needed more than 2 seats. Really love the C3 but wanted a car I can drive to work every day if I want to. Decided to buy the C5 from a close relative who had to get rid of it. With only 6,800 miles on it when I bought it, it was like a new car and it was a help for him financially.
Now if I can only stop buying accessories...

For me, I've wanted one since I first saw a Corvette as a kid. The history, performance, technology and just plain badazz looks caught my attention. Finally got to the point where I was able to afford one and the rest is history.

Since I was a teenager my dream car was always a Corvette. I never thought I'd be able to buy one but I am fortunate to have owned three and I don't think I'm I'm finished yet. My ultimate would be a 63 split window coupe. That would be a dream come true

I always buried the idea of owning one, I'd just kind of figured it was out my league. And if it were it just wouldn't be practical.
A few days before my 22nd birthday I saw my FRC on the dealer's lot. I decided that financially it was more than possible, and that I'm only going to be young once so I needed to go after it.
I'd already bought my house at 19, and I'd started a solid 401K with my company so I figured why not?
The car does absolutely everything I need from get groceries, to pick up lumber, to run 12 sec passes, to get 30mpg, and even getting a christmas tree.... and it looks and sounds better than most other cars out there doing the same!
oh, and it's red....that helped too.

I was actually looking into getting an BMW M3 convertible to replace my wife's Mustang she sold. After having a hard time finding a decent one it came to me to look at the Corvettes. They were cheaper, faster, and easier to mod. Plus their convertibles weren't ruined like most cars with the added weight and lack of rigidity.

When I was 13 years old and a camper at summer camp, my counselor took me for a ride in his new '57 vette. From that time on I had to have one. I am on my fifth one now and have owned vettes for the last 30 years. I have had the passion for over 50 years. I had to get rid of my first wife to get one but the second (and last) loves them as much as I do. She's a keeper

Hmmm.....for me, several factors contributed to my purchase of a 2002 Z06.
First off - the sexy styling of the FRC styling. Sorry, the standard coupe does nothing for me (subjectively).
Secondly, the performance of the car
Last , but not least, it's an American sports car. I like the idea that the Z06 can undress many many much more expensive Euro sports cars.
Happy New Year
