Default fog lights only

Has anyone ever set where you had fog lights bright enough you could drive with them only at night? Just wondering. It would seem like it would be possible for driving around town, in that it would be bright enough and would keep the smooth lines. I'm thinking of doing it to a z06 but didn't even know if you can turn on the fogs lights only and not the headlights. Thanks

Some do it with HIDS, but I would not suggest it.

My HID fogs are bright enought to do that, but I don't. I'm sure cops would have a problem with it.

Don't do it. You wouldn't want to be cited as the at-fault vehicle for a crash, now, wouldja?

Fog lights are purposefully mounted low, so as to take advantage of the good transmission of light bounced off a hard surface at a very low angle. Notice that as you see car headlights approaching from a distance at night, that you actually see the reflection off the pavement before you resolve the individual lights themselves.

You need to have your normal headlamps on when it's dark. Period. Use the fog lamps when it's foggy out.

I had T-84 Euro glass HL converted to HID, but drove with the PIAA's in the city, ( I don't like the pop ups) they were much brighter than stock HL.

Last year I bought new vert fogs, and converted them to 6000K HID.
I also got new ACA HID HL 6000K(that I don't use, but look cool)!

I often do that when its just getting dark or the visibility is slightly reduced.

I select park position and fogs on so the headlamps stay down. I have stock fogs.

Once its dark or dank I put the headlights up. There's just not enough light without headlights.

I have HID fogs and drive in city always with only the fogs on.
They throw as much light as the stock low beams.
I only use my HID low beams when I am out of the city.

The PIAA fogs are super bright, and blinding to oncoming traffic. I use them as high beams at night when nobody's coming toward me. I also have the ACA HID projector headlights which are great for night driving

See vid for how bright just the PIAA's are:

I got rid of the PIAA's because they were a pain to replace, since they are a solid unit, and not a bulb.

I NEVER had anyone flash me for blinding them, matter of fact I also have them on a DD! I think the angle of adjustment is the culprit.

Hella Micro DE Xenon (driving light pattern) with 6000K 55w D2S HID kit. these are the same size as the OEM foglights and mounted on the OEM brackets....with minor clearancing

I purposely aimed mine a little low to keep the grouchy drivers happy.

I have PIAA 1100x (same as posted before) and I seldom use my headlights. The only time I do use my headlights is if its raining or I am on a country road with no overhead lighting.
