There are a lot of good oil filters out there, the Wix/NAPA Gold filters are definitely a great choice too, very well made and durable.
The only filter I would say to completely avoid would be the low end Frams, as they use cardboard endcaps. I know that there are millions of cars running these filters without problems, but for my money I want something put together a little stronger, and there are cheaper filters than them which are built better, so there is no point using them. I will say that the top end Fram filter, the Extended Guard one (AKA The Synthetic Oil filter) is very well made! In fact, it impressed me so much that I'm currently running one on my car! It's a completely different beast than the rest of the Fram lineup though, this one uses metal endcaps and a much better blend of 2 layers of filtering media.
I changed to WIX (or NAPA GOLD, same filter) and my cold oil pressure increased 10-15 psi. Since the C5 oil pressure sensor is AFTER the oil filter, more psi equals more flow.

Their great filters and do an excellant job, but for the kind of driving most of us do, a Napa Gold or a Wix, AC Delco, Mobil 1 or most any other standard brand of filters is fine for what we do. It's a whole other bowl of soup if your tracking your car or drag or race your Vette. I know wix makes filter and they are colored or branded under a whole lot of different nameplates. As far as the last poster who had a hole in the side of his filter, I can't see a filter, any filter just developed a hole out of the thin air, something had to bounce up and hit your filter. Maybe a bullet or stone or something sharp. I've used AC Delco for years, maybe thrity, and I've seen them blow up, melt and other damages, but I've never seen one just start leaking from a mystery hole. I'm just glad you caught it and it didn't do any damage to your car.

I went to NAPA and bought 2 NAPA Gold filters for $6 each, a great deal as I have read nothing but good about them and they are easy for me to get at my local NAPA.
I would not hesitate to use whatever anyone on here recommends as they know what is what.

. It was as it it was injecting/misting the oil out of the canister. It's also the first time I have seen it happen, and hopefully the last time it does too
. I think I had seen a thread a long while ago where a guy was using a K&N filter, and the wrench aided bottom part of it had bottomed out, and it made a hole in the botom of the filter.
