When I take my Z on a "spirited" drive I seem to always have a wet spot on the seat when I get out. Not sure if its a cooling leak or a pleasure leak.

I need to stop bashing my car. It's more of a "love-hate" relationship we have.

She has screwed me over, but she's also had my back.

Go figure. A Z06 is like no other in many aspects. I'm still regaining my trust in her. She may have ruined our loving relationship...

Default Common problems?

Common problems are uneducated owners that screw with their cars. http://www.eugeneleafty.com/Corvette...ugh%20shifting

I had three C5s (2) FRCes and a 2001 Z06 . Just traded / exchanged one red 2000 FRC for a 2008 Z06.

Never any trouble, never. Yes ,I'm a retired mechanic ( automotive technican) and I don't thrash my cars like they're disposable rice rockets. Just read thru the Tech help topic section and see the problems and who has modified what.

I have had tranny leak , window motor , end link on sway bar , one thing I did do is install the colum lock bypass for 50 dollars, other than that no oil burning issues and a flawless 9 year old great car. No complaints and having a blast with an great car, every time I drive it I like more and more

They always seem to get really loud in tunnels and on freeway on-ramps. GM hasn't issued a fix for this.

I only had the car 5 months, but the only issue I had with it was the column lock, which I fixed with a CLB for $50 and 20 minutes of my time.

You do realize that there is something extremely wrong with that statement....(?)

You think it's O.K just because it didn't get ugly?

Lots of various issues with C5's.

- Leaky rear top where it is joined to the upper tub.
- Gas gauge issues.
- Oil Pressure Sensor issues.
- Leaky axles.
- EBCM issues
- Electrical Issues (all types).
- Battery leakage problems on to PCM.
- Clutch / Slave issues.
- Tranny / Synchro issues
- Torque Tube Couplers / Bearings.

Those are the main issues that you'll face. If you're handy with a wrench and have a place to work on the car, most of them can be fixed relatively easily.

How can you tell if the column lock bypass has been done or not?
Any web sites where you can check to see if any thing was done years ago under the GM service bulletins like the column lock, rocking seats, etc.?

Check with your local GM dealer service department and ask for a vehicle service history report using your VIN#

No it cannot.

Once you've installed a CLB, it's impossible for the CL to engage. The CLB plugs into where the CL actuator would normally plug into on the harness. The CL must be unplugged to install the CLB, so therefore it cannot engage at all once the CLB is installed.
