i am upgrading my rims to 18 fronts and 19 rears. my question is on the fronts will a 255X40X ZR18 tire be too tall and too narrow for a 18 x 8.5 rim? or should i run a 35? i will be running 35s in the rear. thanx in advance.
are you getting free tires or something? why would you run a 40 series tire in the front? If your car is lowered, judging by clearance on my car, it's probably going to rub the fender when you turn.
IMO you should go w/ a 35 series.. the 255 will go fine on the 8.5" wheel. also, maybe a 30 series in the rear.
what tires are we talking about? also, if you're 'upgrading' why not put a 9.5" wheel in the front?

i wish i was getting free tires!!! i am buying a set of house of wheels 18x8.5 and 19 x 10.5 rims in black and i will be running the bf goodrich g force ta kdw tires and i am getting the 285/35/19 for the rear and was looking to see what would be a good size for the front. and as of yet the car has not been lowered but may lower it on the stock bolts a 1/4 inch i think is what the car will go on stock bolts?
but i did find a great deal on a set of 255X40X ZR18 g force so thats why i asked this particular size
Yep. If you're going to upgrade.. do it right. Do the 9.5 w/ a 275!
Just bought new C5 Z06 wheels in chrome from House of Wheels. 18x9.5 and 19x11. Will be putting Hankook Ventus V12's on them 275/35-18 and 305/30-19
I would definitely go with a wider wheel.
Last month picked up this set of 265/35-18 BFG KDW2 on 9.5X18 (57mm offset) and 295/35-19 BFG KDW2 on 10.5X19 (56mm) *Factory Reproduction wheels. They're fitting well under the 2000 FRC ( OEM ride height w/C6 Z06 shocks) but the rears are too tall for the '01 Z06. The best part was the mounted, balanced ,new lug nuts, no tax ,out the door price of $1150
