new zinc plated rotors - question
Do I clean them before I put them on?
I know regular rotors come shipped with oil on them so they do not rust.
Do zinc plated rotors come with an oil on them?
And if so, will brake cleaner be ok to prep them before I put them on the car?
thanx for you help guys

I don't believe there's a need to clean them. I didn't clean mine and they were fine. Are you replacing the pads too? It's a good idea to do them all together and then imediately break them in according to the recomendations of the manufacturer. Enjoy your new brakes, but realize that the zinc in the firepath of the pads won't last too long and you will soon be left with just the hats with zinc on them.

Guys thank you for your input!!!
I did indeed buy pads along with my rotors so a complete brake job will be in order.
As long as the hats stay relatively nice I will be happy so the burnoff in the pad path is no big deal.

What do the instructions advise? Some manufacturers may coat them from the factory, others may not...
