Default Need cams!

Looking for cams for my 02 Z06, 67k miles. I drive it a few times a month and I'd like to keep it reliable and don't want to have any problems with idle or anything related.

Only mod on the car is a Vararam with the power duct.

Also want to keep all my legs, arms and kidneys. So anything over 50 bucks is out. Ok, maybe a little bit more then $50...

Name, brands, models, vendors and prices are really appreciated.

Thanks guys!

I was about to say $50 isnt going to get you much. Look for a 224/224 or a 228/228 cam it will give you a pretty good sound at idle and good low and mid range power. Just be carefull of how much lift the cam has, if you fo to high you will have to replace the springs which isnt a bad idea while your at it anyway. Me I love a veyr rough idle. I run a MS3 237/242 with a .609 lift. Here's where I got mine.

0331MARINE, thanks for the quick reply. I already got all the valve springs, gaskets, etc, from GM. They are on the side while I think if I go with the cams or not. Probably will.

Depending on the camshaft, you'll need valve springs to match. The GM springs may not be up to the task.

Very true. Which springs did you buy?

I'm fine with some mild configuration. I got the original springs at the Chevy dealer.

GM OEM prings are only good for .550 lift. That limits your cam to what you already have.

You need good springs for a .600 lift, or good double springs for cam lift of .600 to .650

So if you want a mild cam of .224/.224 .581/.581 114+2 you need DIFFERENT Springs then you just bought

Comp 918 springs for example

by going piece meal you may wind up spending much more then you want too.

Find a great shop to do the work for you. Most DIY guys muck it up, no offense

Being in Jarvisburg NC, I would recommend VA Speed, ( VA Beach ) south entrance to Oceania Naval Air Station. IS not that far from you and a very VERY GOOD SHOP
