1. when did spinners go out of style??? I just saw a nice set of plastic spinner hubcaps on a yugo not 10 minutes ago.. a little wobbly, but darn sexy.

2. My wife asked me about this look the other day... I truly thought it was because the owner couldn't afford the proper sized tire for the wheel. I had no idea this was a new trend.

To each their own, but this is ridiculous..... there are no performance gains, no benefit what so ever - stupid!!!

Just because someone is looking for "flush" fitment, doesnt mean he has to sacrifice tire width. All it means is someone took the time to calculate precise wheel width & offset measurements, in order to obtain optimal wheel fitment.

Optimal wheel fitment will vary obviously depending on the individual. Obviously many of the cars on that website took it too the extreme and chose to run a stretched tire and a more aggressive wheel offset. However... what most people dont understand, is that the wheel fitment & overall stance of a car, is what makes or BREAKS it.

Cars with flush fitting wheels will ALWAYS look better than a car with sunken, more conservative wheels. And though many people think that the width of the wheel alone determines how flush it will be, or how far it will stick out, this is not true at all. Wheel offset is a huge factor.

I am stressing this because I dont want people to be shunned for asking questions of this nature... If more people understood how wheel widths & offsets worked, there would be many, many more good looking vettes out there. Combo'd with the appropriate ride height (usually very low of course), a flush wheel/tire setup makes the difference between your average corvette, and a neck breaker.

Example: (I hope his member doesnt mind me using his car, he is doing it right)

Notice the wheel seems to stick out just a touch past the fender, with minimal clearance, however it is still enough to avoid rubbing. This gives the car a wider, more aggressive stance. And can really only be truly appreciated in person. Put an end to sunken wheels!

How can you people not like this on a Vette when you didn't see any pictures? Geeze, some of you people need to expand your horizons. Personally I like the look on the Camaro on the website, the C6, and the C5 as shown. The "imports" can keep the stretched tire look as far as I am concerned but if someone wants to do it to their Vette, who cares? You think that what someone else does to their car affects how yours looks?

On a side note, the point of stretching the tires is that with the sidewalls already stretched out, you don't have to wait for the sidewalls to roll over and the response of the tire is increased. Not my look, but it helps with cornering response...then some people take it to the extreme.

Trying to get the tires and rims to sit flush with the fenders looks great like with the C5 above!

Alright, now I will take my chill pill.

That C5 above looks great, and that is what i was getting at when i initially started this thread. But b/c it maybe something a little out of the normal people bash on it. Thats ok though. Id never stretch a tire like the VW's did on a vette. Just looking for a low offse aggressive stance. Not a 18x10 +59 or whatever people normally get

I would like to see anyone running 11" or 11.5" CCWs with a 3" lip that is actually sitting flush. On my 19x11 I have 1/2" bulge when I do the "2x4 test". I e-mailed about 20 other CCW owners on the forum with the same setup and everyone reports the same bulge. Same goes for the front if you want to run a 10" rim with a 2" lip.

So "flush" means different things to different people. I define flush when I hold a 2x4 up to the tire the top of the 2x4 is within 1/8" or so of the fender.

The car above that is "doing it right" looks just like mine. Awesome from that angle... a little weird when viewed from above or directly behind. The C5 lines exagerate the bulge depending on how you view it. For my CCWs I ended up getting in 18x9.5 1" lip and 19x11 2" lip. No tire buldge here when using the 2x4 test.

Don't know if these pics help but I run 10's on the front and 11's on the back with 275's and 305's. I dont really care for the tiny tires stretched over a wide wheel myself...

My setup is the widest I would go for sure (unless you get a tub kit).

Front - 19x10 - Fits 275/30-19 tire
Rear - 19x11 - Fits 305/30-19 tire

You may also go with 18" rims of course, I just would not go any wider than the above. Its just not needed.

Don't bother going 11.5" in the rear. You will likely still put a 305 tire on the back, and why add any unneeded weight.

Be careful with your tire choice. See my post here about that and make sure you understand it.

Good luck !

really looking to see a 10.5 up front and a 12 in the rear with a low offset on both. RWheeler nailed it on the head and knows what i am getting at. Width of the rim isnt everything. Although it is big part, offset is another factor. Im looking to see some vettes with a real low aggressive offset wheel.

I grew up in Truro. All of my family still lives there. My family owns a Hotel and Pub in Truro.
Small world huh !

PS Truro is in Colchester county...
Pictou county is not far away though.
