Any pics of the car from the front? I think I remember seeing it at a chevy show in Dallas. If memory serves, it had fog lights pointing out at 45* from the driving lights.

I have to say it was very cool
Do you still have any pics you could send?

Again guys, I just want the look, a stock corvette is plenty fast for me. I can't believe not many people like the look of a C5R. They are badass. What a head turner that would be cruising down the interstate. I'd be willing to spend an extra $15k to redesign the look of a stock C5 into a C5R. I'm really surprised no one has pics or knows of a business that has done this already. Any corvette with a bunch of graphics is what I'm looking for. Any pics at all?!...

Look for user name Z06C6R/Z06C5R That is his C6R replica in the above link. He has one of each a C5 & C6.

Here are the differeences in the true 1999 C5-R

Actually this 1999 C5-R sold at auction for $50,000.
1) the can pictured in the 2nd photo is not a C5-R replica. That's a kit made by greenwood and you'd be out of your mind to pay 50k for it. So I'm not sure where you're getting your info from but I have to disagree.

Yes, I think I do. I also have some photos of a C5R replica from 2 years before, but it was a 1999 clone with silver and black. It was very cool, and a stock C5, but from 10 feet aay it looked authentic.

PM me your email addres, and I will try and find them both, I Think my wife put them on a D drive.......

As I said I saw both cars over the past 3 years at the Corvette Corral at Petit Lemans, both were put right up front and drew alot of attention. To some it sounds funny to want a C5R clone, but I though both were great cars. The silver and Black one had won a bunch of car shows, I remember speaking with the owner.

I say go for it, I would if I had the time and money. I also wonder if you could get any help from the Corvette team. I know it does not sound likely, but I think I would contact them and ask for some graphics at least. Worst that can happen is they say no, but you might get some advice. The two cars I saw had to have some help, because they were both identical to their racing counter parts.

That sure looks like the one I saw at Petit last year (2009), I wonder if it was him?? Looks like he is from my old neck of the woods, New York. Atlanta would be a long trip, but if you love Corvette racing, mabye he did bring it down.

If it is, I took a bunch of photos of it, it was parked up in front of the tent next to Chevy's ZR1, they gave him the best spot in the corral. Anyone else at Petit 3-4 months ago, see it??

No offense, but $15K is not going to do it.

and YES I did post a pic and place to buy the body parts.
no they are not photos of the C5R, that would be a copy right infringement with Corvette Racing.

That said, you can still buy a wing, front splitter, wider fender flares and an extractor hood. in Carbon fiber if you like.
Then do the finishing body work, paint and decals yourself

I realize that the second photo is not a C5-R body Kit. I was saying the top photo or photo #1 is the actual backup C5-R and it sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction for $50,000. GM released a group of cars from them holdings and this was one of them. It was in Vette Mag. last year.

The C5-R conversion you may be inquiring was completed by member Midnight Storm using the CorvettesWestOnline C5-R Wide Body conversion kit. The "kit"includes wide front fascia with lip, hood, front left and right panels, side skirts, rear wing and diffuser. If you call Michelle at CorvettesWestOnline, you may be able to get the entire kit for $3500 or less.

Midnight Storm looks bad-*** and he did he own pre-striping prep work.

Why tempt fate? Having a car that looks like it's got the goods under the hood is only gonna get embrassing when a beater with juice stomps the crap out of it at the red light.

C5R's had 1200hp LS1's and that ain't easy to replicate on the street without SERIOUS $$$$!

True, but there can be a happy medium where looks meets power. There will always be someone faster. And if not a car, some kid on a crotch rocket will be calling you out. I say, do what you wish but be able to talk it and or back it up (to an extent).

Have fun and be safe

One of my friends owns a pair of C5R cars and a customer of ours has a pair of "tribute" cars - the car in the pic above, while owned by GM, was not a C5R race car. It looked like a parade car, but did not have any of the technolgy (except the body) of the C5R.

In fact, I recall a production LS1 in lace and a full interior on the auctioned car...

My friend will sell his C5R cars for 1 mil/per.
I hope this helps.
