Default Techron Question...

Is it best to add it to an almost empty tank or a full tank? I've seen it posted here both ways Thanks guys

I add mine when the tank gets low 1/4 or less and I am at the station filling her up.

Filling after you add the Techron would seem to ensure it mixes thoroughly with the gas. It probably does either way so it's probably not a big deal either way.

Thanks guys. Anyone else want to chime in??? Don't these cars have duel tanks with a crossover? How can we be sure that both tanks are being treated? With all the sticky fuel gauge issues (I had the problem before the Techron treatment) I just want to be sure to treat the condition correctly. Sorry if this is a dumb question

I had the gas gage issue where it dropped to zero and the Chack Gages light came on. I had just filled the tank so I added it and within about 5 miles the gage started to work properly. So I guess it does not matter when it is added.
I just thought of this, are you referring to the Fuel System Cleaner or the Fuel Injector Cleaner?

I belive the Techron Plus (what I'm using) cleans both the fuel system and injectors?

I add the TECHRON to a half full tank, then top it off and drive it. That thoroughly mixes it up...

I add it at the gas station and then fill.

The instructions on the bottle say to add the contents of the bottle to a nearly empty tank and then fill up with 12 gallons of gas. I assume that gives the correct concentration. IIRC there are two sizes (12G and 20G) so best check on the size you have bought.

I add when it is nearly empty. No problems.

Thanks DeeGee. Though I'm sure I read here before that some guys run their tanks low then add the Techron and let the car sit for awhile (a day or 2?) then add the fuel giving the Techron time to work on the sensors.

Cant remember how low the sensor sits in the tank but I guess it must be quite low to work at all. Unless its covered the Techron wont do its stuff. I'd be tempted just to follow the instructions. Cant see that over concentration would be an issue (20G size + 12 gallons) but if you fill to full (18G) you may need the big bottle.

True but when do we guys ever do that? but just had a look at a pic and its pretty low on the tank. I guess neat techron may be good or bad I'd still give it a shot at the proper concentration first.

I take it with me when I'm on my way to the gas station. Then I add it just before I fill 'er up, and throw the bottle away at the station.

I just use Chevron gas, never add extra Techron, no guage problems.

Dirty little secret:

Most "brand name" gas starts out the same at the wholesale point. additives are added at that point according to what retailer the fuel is going to.

Reason: EPA sets the fuel requirements by geographic area and season and gasoline pipelines all "tend" to offload at the same regional places! If you went to see for yourself you would see branded trucks from many brands and independents in line for their company's "special" fuels!
