i am about to purchase new wheels and tires and i have a 2001 coupe,can the tpms be turned off ? i thought i saw it on here that it can be switched off ,now i can't find it,if so how do you do it thanks.

don,t want to dismount the stockers,so i can switch up from time to time,also gonna have a tire and wheel package shipped to my door,i lived for years with out tpms,i think they are a pain in the a$$,but thats just my opinon.

If you are going to go with non-runflats, that's quite a safety feature you are giving up. And the '01 and newer TPS are much cheaper than the earlier version. But it's your choice and yes, the TPMS can be turned off on your '01.
My opinion, for what its worth: True you have to spend the money for breaking the beads and pulling your TPMS out and new O-rings. The big down side to not having them is you can't catch a slow leak. I don't use run-flats and I check the tires every day on the DIC. I would rather catch a slow leak when it starts than to be left someplace with a flat tire.
