I don't think so. I've never had any problems like that.
I would opt for 01-02, 01 got the most changes for the model years and 02 is probably the perfect year of all C5s.
Verts' have the profile look of the Fixed Roof Coupe/Z06.
I have read about a few here that have had the window fall inside. Of course I don't press down on mine when I'm cleaning it, but haven't experienced that problem either. A new replacement top, the one's I've seen now use the heat seal, as seen on the C6 soft top around the window which prevents that problem with the glass.
You mean what should you look for over all in buying a C5 or just what should you look at for the soft top?

Hi
My main concern is only the top and what l should look for? As far as the window falling out OUCH!!!!!!!!!
I would probably go nuts. Being that l am a perfectionist l would have the rear window checked out.
How much is it to replace the rear window with a better one.
I wouldn't trade my 95 Competition yellow or my 04 Medium Spiral Gray verts for a coupe. As far as the back window issue, I've re attached both of them. It's a fairly simple fix using 3M Windoweld and their glass primer.

Well first a careful examination of the cloth itself. Look for stains, and signs of wear. I would definitely open the top meaning, open the latches move the front to the vertical and the back to the vertical. Examine the weatherstrip both sides and wear on the cloth that rolls the edges. Along each side where the two pieces of weatherstrip split, lift the edge of the cloth and there should be some strips of foam with a sticky backing (you can buy the stuff at HomeDepot places, its just a half inch wide of gray foam with self adhesive.). Many times those come loose, no biggy you can get some new pieces for a couple dollars but know what is there. The idea is when the two pieces of weatherstrip come together this little foam piece adds extra sealant. Examine all the edges and weatherstrip. Look at the underside of the rear corners for wear where it touches the tonneau. Mine had two staples there that factory put in and it scratched the paint. I removed them and put some clear silicone there on the underside to keep the top and the paint from touching. You might see evidence of this or the staple in there. '01 and greater are five layer top I believe so it's very well padded and quiet on the inside. Examine the weatherstrip along the rear underside. I would just touch the window all around and make sure its tight.
Do a search in General for fixing the vert rear window. There's several post on how to do it. Basically you get some glue and glue it back together and use some suction cups to lift the window tight until the glue sets. Not an expensive repair. Several methods on here. Don't worry too much about that, its fairly rare.
You want to apply RaggTop protectant about every 6 months to keep it new looking and bead water. Fairly easy to do.
Make sure the tonneau button opens the cover and makes the windows go down.
I love my vert only for when i go cruising on a warm summer night. nothing beats having the top off and hearing muscle roaring around you!!!
however, i HATE having a vert for my racing. for drag racing, i have way passed the certified cage rules. For road racing, you get all sorts of fluttering of the top and air leaks when going 165 plus.
in the end, i think my best option would have been a coupe. i get the removable top as well as the covered-ness for racing.
Aj
Guess I haven't been paying attention. They make Corvettes that are NOT straight stick Roadsters? Are they 4 or 6 bangers????
Must be some niche market the MBAs at GM are chasing.
