Yeah it is kind of fun when one leaves to go home from work and you can take a minute to put the top down for a wonderful commute home. Sort of makes you forget and leave the day behind you.

I agree it's a piece of cake and the steps above are a detailed explanation of what it takes but even though I do all those same steps they would sound like too much to me reading it. Actually doing it is a total no-brainer and even becomes sort of a rite. I love coming out and taking the top down and not having an automatic top was one of my original concerns. One small benefit of a manual top (beside giving you more trunk room) is that is is super easy to get in and out with the top down. Since you have to put the top up while you're in the car (as far as I know there is no way to do it from outside) with an automatic top it will always be in your way when you enter or exit. Of course you could just leave it down. I put mine up whenever I go into places unless its a restaurant or bar and I can see it from inside. I only latch the drivers side latch during those times so it is an easy one side of the car effort to put it back down.

Absolutely! As it gets close to the end of the day I start getting that good feeling, knowing it's almost time to get out there and put the top down and hit the road. Excellent!

as for road noise, I have no problem talking to my passenger or hearing the radio with the top up or down. Maybe I never expected a Vette whether coupe of convertible to have that sound isolation of a good German sedan. Different types of vehicles.

Get the vert. I wanted a manual and ended up with an automatic. It did not have the performance axle either. That was not a good combination. I had to put 3:42 gears in and a higher stall torque converter and got a good tune and now I really enjoy the automatic. I still would like to own a manual, at least for a while to see how it fits me. I've considered changing mine over, but I'd really like to get a non-vert 6spd to use for track events. I do drag race my vert at times and haven't noticed any issues with the top being up - noise-wise or stability and solidness of the top. I have noticed some extra wind noise with the top up from the windows not sealing perfectly and heard that window tip in is the place to look for a fix. It hasn't bothered me enough to pursue though because since its kind of an art I'm afraid of making it worse.

I say get the Vert, get either tranny. You'll still be driving a convertible Vette and that is one sweet ride. Color. That's totally personal preference. When I was looking for mine. I was going to get any color except red. I ended up with red and I'm quite pleased. red with black top, black int and some accents around and I think its sweet. The black top is very easy to take care of.

Good luck!

Not so! I live in Texas and my wife and I take it to Chicago (our old stomping grounds). We can get two suitcases and a lot of other stuff in the trunk. We also go on the Hot Rod Power Tour and have no problems. Maybe you need some packing lessons.

Last spring I went thru the same process. I belong to a car club and a member with a 2004 triple black conv said get a vert. I found a black 2000 vert black top and oak interior and and just love it. The best is cruising with the top down in the summer evenings. Nothing like it.
wouln't get anything but a convertible. get one you will never regret it.

I suppose I should disclose I'm a bit biased.

I have no problems nor does my Wife. But I have seen some spouses that could fill the trunk by themselves.

I owned a '88 Coupe for 13 years and now the Vert. I could never go without a Roadster from now on.

The top has a hook on each side that attatches to a bracket that is secured by the seat belt bolts.

It is a Caravaggio top, and came with the car. From what I've read the top with shipping and getting it painted will cost ~$4k.

Hi

It is awesome and the company Caravaggio is top notch. It's worth the trip up to Canada to have it done properly. The price ticket is high for what it is but again if you live in Canada there is no other choice!
